Re: What to look for when purchasing a Race GTV6

Cool Videos, Looks like you took care of that M3 ok. The GTV6 looked good as well. I am just waiting for an email to see when we can check it out. Definately pretty close to go see it. My friend Leslie who has a GTV6 race car hopefully will go with me. I am hoping Phil can look at it as well. I was ...

Re: What to look for when purchasing a Race GTV6

Thanks for the suggestions, I am just waiting to see when we can get there. It seems like a good idea to have a purpose built Alfa for the Track. Then I can forget about the smog issue for the engines. I do have a stock 2.5L engine as a spare for extra parts and I am just researching this option. Ho...

What to look for when purchasing a Race GTV6

Hello Everyone, We are thinking of purchasing a GTV6 race car. It is set up already and I was wondering what should one look for when you purchase a GTV6 race car. Also, what class would this run in. We were hoping to get an Alfa to run in the CSRG but this might be too expensive for us to start sin...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

Hi Jess, I am not sure what I want to do. Alfaferrarisypder wants to join CSRG. We would need an Alfa before 67 to run with them. He has a GTV for the track but it is a 69. Jon Norman is selling his Alfetta Race Car and I have yet to see it. I did go for a fast run in a Guila spyder at Infineon. I m...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

Cchan, if you want a nicely built GTV6, Fortis621 may be interested in selling his. Keep your 24v as it is, and have fun with the race car at the Alfa events! Put in a heavily modified 24v and don't worry about smog. That car is a turnkey racer car with RS suspension and very nicely built cage. Jes...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

What about the S.A. N.A engines with 425 hp at the crank. This must be at least 340HP at the crank (20% loss in drive train est). This is more than 300 HP so am I missing something? Of course maybe I have my facts wrong and the Glenwood motors don't really produce this HP? Have anyone actually seen...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

If I were you and money was not an issue I would leave your 24v GTV6 alone and find another GTV6 to build. I would do a 3.5 24v twin-turbo with front mounted Getrag 6 spd gearbox. This would take serious engineering and modification, so you would need to find someone willing to build for you. Don't...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

The original poster didn't specify, but I assume this is: 1. for a street car 2. needs to pass CA smog (at least the sniffer) 3. needs to run on lousy quality CA "premium" fuel Listing all constraints may help suggestions. Jes Hi Jes, You are correct on the above. Handles really well and ...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Hi Zamani, I really don't know why either. Running around and trying to update my Alfa has been a fun experience. It is hard to get the best discount when everything is custom. We tell everyone that we don't have alot of $ but I guess they don't believe us. We would expect that if they do charge us ...

Re: Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

Thanks for all the information. It looks like I have the following options: 1). Get another Motor from Glenwood Motors with 425hp directly from S.A. 2). Supercharge the 24V to 400HP. 3). Turbo the 24V to 400HP. I was just wondering if anyone on the Forum has a 400hp or higher GTV6? And finally if yo...

Upgrading a 3.0L 24V

I was just wondering what options does one have to increase their HP from around 270 Hp at the crank to 400 Hp at the crank? My current engine is a stock 164LS 24V with 44mm intake and GTA cams. Modified stock injectors and basic modifications to the engine to fit into a GTV6.

Electrical Connections

Ok, we needed to put in a wiper motor and now they are working again. The brake lights and the interior lights are fixed as well. Phil said that when he checked them they were working fine. He knew I was not making it up since I saw him in Pebble Beach he tried to fix it them and could not. I asked ...

Re: Exhaust Leak

Picked up the Alfa today and drove it from Santa Cruz to Piedmont. Alfa drives great again and I wish it would always stay like this. The sound is back and no more exhaust leak. We were lucky and the exhaust manifold was not cracked. The problem was the lower gasket was leaking/broken. Phil had to r...
