Re: 3 liter, 24 valve engine project

Hi Michael, No problem on the page #. I needed to use the stock alternator as well. If you did use the 164LS alternator I was wondering how you mounted it. The 164LS alteratore has 120 AMPS so this is the better alternator. However mounting it was the $1,000,000 question. Glad your almost done with ...

Re: 3 liter, 24 valve engine project

Hi Mike,

I looked at page 12/13 but did not see anything. Are you using the 164 Alternator or the GTV6 Alternator?

Re: 3 liter, 24 valve engine project

Hi Mike,

Glad you have it running now. Can't wait to see the dyno. Just out of curiosity what alternator set up did you go with?

Re: Hello from germany!

Hello,

Beautiful GTV6. Why is an aftermarket steering wheel an issue?

Re: Alternator Options for 24V conversion in GTV6

Hello, Well we picked up the rebuilt alternator today and determined that the diodes had failed. Most likely it over heated but who really knows. The alternator is close to the headers and it did not have a fan. We spoke with Jeff and looked at the alternator parts just to get an idea of how it work...

Re: Alternator Options for 24V conversion in GTV6

Hello, Dropped off the Alternator to Jeff this am. He really knows his stuff about Alternators. We are having our alternator rebuilt and will be upgrading the Stator to 95 AMPS along with rebuilding all the Bearings, slip rings, voltage regulator, brushes, etc. We are also having him put on the Fan ...

Re: Alternator Options for 24V conversion in GTV6

We pulled out the Alternator today at lunch. It was straight foward in terms of the 2 bolts securing it and we did not have to touch the bolt holding our custom bracket. The only small issue was that we needed to partially drain the coolant since we could not remove the alternator without disconnect...

Re: Alternator Options for 24V conversion in GTV6

Thanks for all the suggestions from Zamani & Giuliettaevo2, We were at the Porsche concours on Sat @ Partsheaven in Hayward and ran into our friend that helps Alfa owners. We have determined that the Alternator is not charging and this is our problem. We determined this after checking with the V...

Re: Alternator Options for 24V conversion in GTV6

Our Options are: 1). Have the 2.5L 12V alternator rebuilt but since the amps are I think between 50-60 and have it upgraded to 70 AMPS minimum. This would be the easiest fix since the brackets and pullies are already fabricated. However, what shop could do this for us. Does any one know a good shop ...

Alternator Options for 24V conversion in GTV6

Hello, Well I went to the Simon's shop and we checked the alternator. It is not charging and therefore we need to get a new one. Just spoke with Phil and went over my options and we wanted to get some suggestions from others who have done this conversion. If I remember correctly, we had bought a new...

Alternator warning light

Hello, The Alternator warning light came on last night when we drove the Alfa around to test the Alfa more. We are looking at our GTV6/2.5 workshop manual and can not find the trouble diagnosis and corrections area for Alternator light on. This manual appears to be more for a Milano but we were told...

Model Differences 116.69 & 113.10

Hello, We are looking at our GTV6 2.5 / V6 Milano Workshop Manual. We have the following questions: 1). We have an 82 GTV6 2.5 which we think is a 116.69 Type/Model. Is this correct? 2). The Manual also has a GVt6 2.5 which states there is a 113.10 Type/Model. Assuming we have it correct that our 82...

Re: Angel Eye Headlights

Thanks for the input on the Angel Eye Headlights. Glad someone else likes the idea too. We are going to do this but are just looking at the options. I do think that the BMW lights are the way to go and we might just purchase the lights and then intall them with the relays and the fuses. If I underst...

Angel Eye Headlights

We drove the Alfa last week in the nightime and we forgot how poor the headlights are. This was to an BMW M3 event. I noticed that the BMW's have Angel Eye Headlights that are not only way better than my stock ones but they look great as well. I want to update this next and I was wondering if any Al...

Re: Introduction

Thanks for the posts, The oil is on the wrong side so it is most likely some type of leak. Now that we are aware of this we will figure it out by keeping an eye on it and determine what we need to do to address this. In regards to the rear brake caliper rusting, we don't want any item rusting on the...
