Re: Supercharger help please

Hi Rob, The merc 230 sounds like a decent option, casing looks compact which is useful to maximise use of limited under bonnet space. This sort of thing rebuilt :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eaton-M62-Supercharger/253407131016?hash=item3b003df588:g:qZMAAOSwCtJaddox I quite enjoyed making my kit, see...

Re: Supercharger help please

Hi Rob, Not sure what country you're in but 62 series supercharger units are relatively common from various car manufacturers. The internals of the same generation blowers are identical in all, but the external castings and packaging differ hugely from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some are very bul...

Re: transaxle upgrade's

gtv-racer... very interested in a price for this too - add me to your list of potential customers. Certainly interested in giving my transaxle a better chance of holding together!

Re: Headlight lamps

Hi Kevin, how's things. I presume you are already running all 4 lights through relays and are looking to upgrade the dipped units? The "mains" can easily take 100w bulbs, but I never found a truly satisfactory solution for the "dips" using the factory lights. The design flaw seem...

Re: Steve's 3.0 24v supercharged GTV

Hi Kev,
I don't have anything much planned Alfa wise this year as I've quite a lot going on with family weddings, holidays and such.

If Alex holds another open day I'll be there though :-) Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Steve's 3.0 24v supercharged GTV

Had a couple of silly teething problems to resolve with the new set up, most awkward to find was an irritating high pitched whistle at closed throttle at all speeds. This turned out just to be a poor seal between the supercharger inlet and the mounting bracket allowing a sliver of air to be sucked i...

Re: Steve's 3.0 24v supercharged GTV

Another unusual problem encountered involved the air-filter trying to collapse in on itself when the throttle was wide open! The air demands of the engine exceeded the old filters' max flow, so a larger dual cone K&N item with 90mm (3.5") alloy pipework has been installed, as before the fil...

Re: Steve's 3.0 24v supercharged GTV

Whilst everything was dismantled I took the opportunity to fix the main coolant radiator that was weeping slightly from a seam. To be fair it was the original 1983 radiator that had been rebuilt twice before, so I'd gotten good use from it. Rather than have it fixed again it's replaced with fully we...

Re: Steve's 3.0 24v supercharged GTV

I removed the supercharger and bracketry, cut off the mounting lugs and re-welded them 28mm further back such that the nose of the supercharger is that distance further forward to align with the new bottom pulley set up. This also involved extending the throttle body mounting flange so that it didn'...

Re: Steve's 3.0 24v supercharged GTV

About time I updated this thread. I had become unhappy with the "one belt does all" set up, despite building it like that deliberately. With hindsight it was a mistake, so I've re-vamped the set up to use a secondary belt solely for the supercharger, with the other accessories on their own...
