Re: New V6 3liter 12v pistons.
Now I bothered to read some old posts. Yes, it's mentioned that those were with centered pins..

Re: Balancing factor of the 3.0 12v?
When you have had engines balanced to 50%, how deep and wide holes have you got on cranks, and on what counterweights? Just came from balancing shop and mine was at 60%! And it was good running vibration free and strong engine. Balancing it to 50% would been meant three 12mm diameter and 20mm deep h...

Re: New V6 3liter 12v pistons.
Is there any pin offset on those small skirt pistons? If there isn't and full skirt ones does, then it could be the main reason.

Re: driveshaft conversion
Mats and Mike, I think you both got good points to think about. Not saying that one is right or wrong, but it's good to hear about experiences. Anyway I will use CV's and flex discs, but not any UJ's. I don't like the idea of torsional vibration generated by them when there is some angle, and some a...

Re: driveshaft conversion
It's about "half race" car, and 6 cylinder. I'd like to be able to drive it also on road. I agree that there should be at least one flexible joint, not only because of noise, but also to save the transmission. I'd like to use solid clutch discs too. If the flex disc is mounted on front, th...

Re: driveshaft conversion
Are you Mats saying that CV will hold fine on front, and the engine pulsation isn't a problem? I could buy that. Average torque is really low anyway, because gears are on transaxle. V6 engine uses loose rear mounting, thus the agle changes on front coupling are quite significant. Also transaxle move...

Re: THS performance connecting rods
The 0.2mm would add compression up from 10:1 to 10.2:1. That wouldn't be bad in most of cases, but I'd like to know if the std cr 10:1 should come true with 130.9mm rods, not 131.1mm.

Re: THS performance connecting rods
It seems that THS rods are 131.1mm long, but my std 24V were 0.2mm shorter. Are THS rods ment to be longer, or are my std rods shorter than usually?

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
If that also got standard oil suction screen, then the pump should be really good at start.

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
That would be ultimate test, but the cavitation problem could been found just by turning pump fast enough and see if it keeps moving oil smooth or not.

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
I assume that the pump starts cavitation at certain speed. That can be cured by helping flow to pump. The 75 oil intake mesh looks extremely restrictive. Somebody should start a project and build a test bed for test running the pumps

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
If he used std RWD mesh on that pump, it could be the reason for what happened. I will go on dry sump if needed, but I'm not sure if that's must or not. Std pump might be good with small modifications.Zamani wrote:RWD setup oil pump (164 block so it was belt driven).

Re: 75 3.0v6 boosted.Preparing transaxle for extra load.
I have not done much work in the area of strengthening the transaxle, a few others here have so hopefully they will chime in. My dad and I have looked into this issue very carefully and arrived at the following conclusions. The overall problem seems to be that so many things in the transaxle fail a...

Re: Supercharged 12V/Stratos copy/engine tech type stuff
Have you checked the exhaust temperatures on the different cylinders? If it's running harsh at let's say 2500 rpm, you could run it on that rpm for a while and then check the temperature of the pipes near to head with infrared. If one is giving significantly different readings, there could be differ...
