Marathon brake overhaul completed

I have finally finished replacing front and rear discs, pads, all 3 brake lines and both rear calipers. what a performance, the biggest headache was the bleeding, after 1 litre of break fluid I still need to bleed the brakes some more. However, I am at a loss to understand why Alfa recommend bleedin...

Re: Cam belt change

4 hours!!, I am in the process of doing the water pump and cam belt and I have done the belt on a 164 before, but this is something else. The manual is vague, trying to locate the lower tensioner bolt took 2hrs as it is hidden behind the spring and no where does it say release the spring. Everything...

Re: Supersprint complete exhaust system for GTV6

The Ansa rear exhaust to me sounds better, it howls more but there is a drop in response compared to the Supersprint rear exhaust, perjhaps the Supersprint exhaust sounds more like the stock exhaust.

Re: Supersprint complete exhaust system for GTV6

My engine stock 2.5. Performance increase HUGE, engine smoother, revs out faster. Much more torque, I couldn't spin the wheels in 3rd gear before on the diirt road where I live, I now do it with ease. 3rd almost feels like 2nd used to. Sound wise smoother, but I am going to try the Ansa centre becau...

Re: Supersprint complete exhaust system for GTV6

I am in the process of installing a Supersprint full system and have finished the install and I have just about finished. I tried just the rear exhaust on it's own first and the sound was far better than the Ansa exhaust that I had before. I then installed the headers etc.I will report back when I g...

Re: Distributor problem

Have you checked to see if the distributor cap has not moved out of the lugs on the distributor and is in the wrong position.

Re: Toyo tires

I have just replaced the Toyo 205/55 15 tyres on my car with Bridgestone Turanza ER592 195/60 15V, the difference is unbelievable, the car is almost neutral, where as before the understeering was really really evident, now on the same corners the car just turns in. Also comfort has improved as well ...

Re: Brake Bleeding

I have bleed the brakes on my late1983 GTV6 (Brembo front calipers) and was wondering the best method to make sure all the air is expelled. One manual says the further side from the master cylinder and another both rear and front together on the right and then the left. Any advice would be greatly a...

Re: Bielstein shocks

The new rear springs are in, they are 33cm long, a fair bit shorter than standard, the ride is firmer but more controlled but I don't like the appearance of the lowered rear , and now I guess I will have to tackle the front to balance things up. I straightened the RHS rear transverse link, as it was ...

Re: Bielstein shocks

The shocks are fitted, the only problem was the bushes for the top of the front shocks didn't fit snugly in the hole, but a great improvement. Now I need to straighten the RHS transverse link as it is slightly bowed upwards. I have also received a set of "pace" rear springs, the softest th...

Re: Poor running, hesitant, etc.

What ECU are you using, a 3.0 litre or 2,5litre(from your origional engine)? Have you done a compression test on the cylinders to check if the engine is OK? Is the camshaft timing correct? Good Luck! I am sure someone on the forum will be able to help you.

Re: Bielstein shocks

I have the bilsteins with the large diameter end at the top, as that was the way they were meant to be , I thought, will it matter that I don't have them upside down? They are Bilstein part No's 1956 and 1957.

Re: Bielstein shocks

Thankyou all for the advice, the OE ones are upside down, and the Bilstein are not, I was thinking of putting the Bilstein upside down , but didn't, I hope I made the right move. I have installed the rear ones so far and will do the fronts tomorrow. I purchased them from Alfisti in Germany, Aus$320...

Bielstein shocks

I have purchased front and rear Bilstein shocks but realise they are the wrong ones they shoud be for the Alfetta GTV 6 or 2.0 but they are for the Alfetta, Guillieta and Alfa 6, they look the same but are a different part No. Is there any point in me trying to fit them to my 1984 Alfa GTV 6? or hav...
