Re: Run Tires Opposit Direction of Stated Rotation ?
I've raced RA1s and have run them in both directions to even out the wear - no problems (in the dry - not recommended in the wet, even though the tread pattern is not very directional). However, if you have a very pronounced wear pattern (eg from lots of negative) you may get some vibration until it...

Re: No longer a ''budget" race GTV
very nice work.
Re the oil lines, can you put the the one way valve on the line to the cooler (so no backflow) and then run the return line back to the box up via the body so it will not drain the cooler unless the pump is running?

Re: No longer a ''budget" race GTV
I'd be putting a one way valve in the return line and carrying extra oil capacity on board (expect would be about a litre extra, so is hardly a problematic weight penalty). Also, would return via the fill plug, assuming the idea is just to keep the oil at its optimum temp, not change the internal oi...

Re: Do GTV6 Wheels Fit on Alfa 164s?
sort of - the PCD is the same, so you 'can' physically bolt them on, but the centre bore on the 164 is smaller so the gtv6 rims will not locate properly, which can lead to nasty vibrations/broken bolts/missing wheels/tears before bedtime.

Re: Great Heel-n-Toe set up
I had to do some work with pedal pads on the 105 but I find the gtv6 is fine. 105 needed an extended (ie lower and closer to brake pedal) throttle pad and to adjust the levels so that the throttle was just below the brake pedal in use. Will check for photos (car will be at MP this weekend if you are...

Re: The Orange Cab -MD's New Racer
IMHO if the engine and shell are Alfa - then it is still an Alfa. If either of these are changed (not just modified, but totally changed) then it is something else. All the other stuff is just ancilliary.

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Mats, your engine seems to be fitted the wrong way, 90 degrees out of correct alignment. Do something about that, please, you are messing up the board.

Re: The Orange Cab -MD's New Racer
You don't need to run it so low that LCA's point upwards, even on the race track. By the time you run smaller OD race tyres (say 205/50 15, which is a common usage), it sits pretty damn low - low enough that clearance for a big pipe becomes marginal - or maybe our tracks are bumpier and spring rates...

Thanks Greg, is that with standard 15x6 45mm offset rims?

Re: ENGINE REBUILD Q FOR BARRY / KEVIN
Nice car. Not that it pertains to the questions asked, but some heat sheilding around the air filter would be a good idea to limit the potential to draw in hot-underbonnet air. Also, I'd assumed that the scoop in the hood was functional, given the location of the plenum on top of the carbs - not so?...

At a guess (don't have a wiring diagram handy) would it be for the accessories position?
