Re: Piggy Back Unichip question
Hi All Ive had a good read and i did see that a few people used a Unchip to aid in the remapping etc. I have a couiple of question if any one could help . 1. Unichip is there just 1 model and it fits all 1 for petrol and 1 for diesel 2. Is there more then 1 maker as i asked unichip uk and they said...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
I've wondered about things like that too. Your comment: "Alfa says their journals are big enough to make for very nice 'overlap' on the crank webs and a sturdy crank." does make some good sence, especially with the design of the crank. The way I see it, large diameter overlapping journals ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Just to dig up the 'extra stroke subject' again............. I know that the Toyota 4AGE/4AGZE engines used 42mm big ends and I've seen over the years that plenty of them have both revved to the moon or produced impressive (plenty of 100hp/cylinder engines out there) force fed performance. So maybe ...

Re: driveshaft conversion
I think knowing more about how carbon fiber behaves in a propshaft roll would be very helpful. The R35 GTR uses a CF propshaft with a unijoint and a CV joint and no apparent rubber damping. Same for the Mazda RX8, but obviously they aren't a transaxle car. But given that 99% of RWD cars in the last ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Truth be told, I don't think any Emerald/DTA/Haltech or other, can make more power than the remapped Motronic. WHY would they? They all have the same kind of maps and comparable resolution. No other hidden secrets. After all, a great many E30 M3's in Germany are seriously raced with their remapped ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Rod length is 131.1mm and stroke for the 3.2liter is 78mm (72.6mm for the 3liter). Couple of years ago, we contemplated exactly what you are proposing. Rod journals are 52mm so we could offset-grind them down to 50mm thus gaining a significant 2mm stroke increase. We would of course need new rods (...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Jim can you tell us the rod length to stroke ratio?
And do you reckon it would be feasable to have an even longer stroke (custom made obviously) crank in the block? Maybe with smaller diameter big ends to find the needed room.

Speeduino. Aussie Designed DIY Programmable ECU
Given that it's too quiet around here and that this is in the true spirit of the Magasquirt philosophy, I thought getting some exposure for an Australian started DIY programmable ECU might be good for a look: http://speeduino.com/wiki/index.php/Speeduino And the forum http://speeduino.com/forum/inde...

Re: Electric Supercharger
So the run time limiting factor will be available electrical energy in the battery? The question is, for a track car anyways, can the system recharge sufficiently thru the slower off boost parts of the track? Can a typical alternator handle it? I like the idea, I reckon it has merrit. But perhaps al...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Nice, are you gonna test both? As a daily, your most likely gonna do the long runners right? My bet is the shorties for peak power. Prolly not practicle to have a dual length runner manifold on a V6 (especially 1 shoe-horned into an Alfa engine bay), but how about a dual resonance manifold like the...

Oh yeah, I should have asked before....................
Do you notice any changes in the car's balance now that you've added the supercharger and the intercooler?

Re: The Orange Cab -MD's New Racer
That's a sweet set up MD!
And the Cab looks even better with the white wheels.
But we all know that's a nice new Sprintex twin screw hiding under there.

After a bit more Goggling it's pretty obvious that an RTV silicone is completely unsuitable. It kinda, sorta doesn't stick to much other than itself............... The way I was thinking about it, each coupling would have 2 interlacing steel structures that provide the majority of the strengt...
