Re: What Clarkson said about the gtv6...arrrgh.

yeah, the work going on with Gtvs in Sa, Oz and america is just way more exciting and productive than in the UK. Its very tame here, in comparison. tell you what though, if you can blame one car for screwing up alfa reputation in the uk in the late 80's and early 90s, for reliabilty, there is one th...

Re: What Clarkson said about the gtv6...arrrgh.

LOL. looks like we need a 155 section here too! ha ha hey guys I bet your lights on your climate control panel dont work properly?? I got a fix for it, if they dont :D Garth don't forget we are talking about the main dealer mechanics of the era, not specialists. as gp mentions above there are many e...

Re: What Clarkson said about the gtv6...arrrgh.

well he is right in most apects really, but you have to maybe look at the whole picture. 1) clarkson is a journalist, his aim is to make a point in the most sensational, interesting and comedic fashion. clarkson will take any car's fault and amplify it 1000, to make his point. whilst he criticises t...

Re: bilstien or koni

for a street a;lfetta you dont want to go higher than 200lbs rate. The RS street kit is 200lbs rate, and I can tell you it's just about liveable on the street, but only just! 180 odd would be perfet for street use if you can get it. what width wheels are you running? with 200lbs or so and uprated fr...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

very nice 155! :D mats, spot on fella 8) , I noticed it this morning, the column height adjuster is alittle weak when locked up, it is allowing a little spring in the column, I'll have a look at it in the next few days, Im sure it can be tightened up.

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

I wish I knew what shocks were fited to mine mats  had a look yesterday but nothing on them, annoying. what I mean is, when you go over a series a small sharpish bumps in the road, the steering column and steering wheel move around in a springy up and down fashion, like a half an inch deflectio...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

ah the joys of alfa ownership hey! quick question for you guys. I noticed on my 155 that you get quite a bit of rubbery "bouncing" of the steering column when you go over a series of complex bumps. nothing loose, rack is good etc. Is that normal on the 155? Im thinking its probably t...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

similar issue for me mats. i took off the cone filter from my 155 today and it was absolutely filthy. picking up the air from the inner fender is a bad idea, the air is very dirty there, from the cooling fins in the platic inner liner. also you run the risk of hydro locking the motor if you run thro...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

I think my 116 is now sulking in the garage, since its gonna get ignored for the next 4-5 weeks! sounds like you have plenty to do mats! i have a few issues too. centre box is blowing, passanger mirror broken, needs a new battery, and a damn good spring clean. as for intake noise, i suppose it...

Re: Ordering coilovers - need advice

greg. yeah but many preople over here lower infinately by simply adjusting the front of the torsion bar only, to achieve 40-50mm. Bad.I did not want it done that way. As far as I know according to my alfa mechanic, the euro 83's and 84's had torsion bars with a different numbers of splines on them, ...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

interesting mats, yeah maybe you have the wrong oil. mines done 148,000 miles! and the box is really nice, though it does have and A&P clutch in it, maybe that makes a difference?? dunno. this one shudders too when you hit a series of bumps, it loses its composure a bit up front, i think the spo...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)

hey mats. how do you find that new 155? I have just baught one for peanuts, a 96 widebody 2.5 v6, lowered 40mm. I was amazed at what a good handler it is on the test drive!!. I was also impressed with how silky smooth the gearshift and drive train is on them. not so impressed on the crap quality of ...

Re: Ordering coilovers - need advice

my two cents worth. setting the ride height via the torsion bars first will not always get you the desired ride height before you fit the coil over kit. it depends on what year your car is, as to how much adustment you may get on the torsion bars. you will need to count the number of splines on the ...
