Re: Boost!

the way I understand it: 12v -> flows less -> less flow with xx psi boost -> less hp. however, the smaller amount of air is compressed to the desired pressure, so it is hotter by the same amount as the same boost on a better flowing engine -> hot air+high static cr -> detonation. with this said 12p...

Re: mythbusters special - 116 V6 and oversteer

Bah! Lies!
Clearly the Torana had overheated and dumped it's coolant (tap water) all over the track. Every other car managed to miss it but the rear boots of the Alfa aquaplaned over the wet spot ( :P ) and adopted the "I'm a drift car too" attitude.

Re: Boost!

The engine is now running. 3l, 9.5:1 compression, QV cams. Already I am seeing around 11.6psi boost. Started with an basic map which gave around 10-15degree ignition at 0.8bar. Then the engine would not work at all, feels like you are pressing the brakepedal. Changed the ignition to 20degrees, that...

I live in Whyalla, South Australia, Australia (duh!!!). And it is typical of a small...

If you can get someones Megasquirt or GoTech map, there's no reason why you couldn't add those numbers to the EMS as a starting map.

The hardest part of adding an aftermarket computer is always the crankangle sensor interface. Fortunately most computers are pretty flexable and user friendly these days. For a capable computer that I would use myself, I would reccomend either a Haltech E6X or the E8 (the E11 would be way overkill)....

Thanks Sira.
I watched the video in your link. Alfa 75 Ultimate Drift Machine....... I like, but maybe not :P A bit week in the transmission and tailshaft for regular, high powered drift abuse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qekD_PqA02M

116 history???

Some time ago, I was having a discussion with my Father about the Alfa transaxle models.
It was my belief that it was the Alfetta that grew into the 90, and the Giulietta that became the 75.
Is there an official interpretation of the 90 and the 75 in relation to the earlier Alfetta and Giulietta?
