Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Very intesting info . I would then estimate looking at shape of chamber that I could go from 10.5 :1 to 11,5 :1 I would need to take off nearly 1mm . I would also have to skip setting the tensioner on the mark ( line on mechanical tensioner) but start about 2mm above the mark on Tdc then do physical...

Re: Budget brake upgrade for track days?
Jose , I have always found the Ferodo Ds2500 pads with proper race fluid have been great for trackdays which don't exceed 15 min sessions of hard braking . Bleed the system well and as you said with the master cyl serviced and all the old fluid flushed its good to go . Normally issue starts on bindi...

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration
Not to detract from this junior but I did notice a very good condition GTV 3.0 undergoing a bare metal restoration in the back of the workshop . I will have to wait for the owner to comment as he's on this forum . Now I won't mention names but lets just say he's been struggling to come to grips with...

Re: Our 1600 Junior restoration
I managed a brief visit to SA two weeks ago to fetch junior from the body shop to bring it back to my dads place . Even though the engine is lying loosely in the car I had managed to put the steering box back in with little effort . I guess that's because the starter motor and the carbs are off . I ...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff
Md , Z , mr zig and of course the fog , its going to be an approach from all those responses . So will put four ductings ( split from two ) to the front windscreen and take other two to side windows . I will also apply anti fog to in side windscreens and just re apply every season . No more potatoes...

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff
Thanks Mr Fog :D unfortunately I dumped the old AC unit when I stripped the car in SA . However I will price up what a second hand heater unit from a scrapper GTV costs here but the way I have set up all my gauges and kill switch at the moment its not going to be simple to put the old unit back in ....

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff
The question is about the best way to demist a race car ( mine) with my aftermarket heater unit . My car does not have AC to help dehumidify the air while you blast the screen with the heater to raise the dew point and stop condensation . Generally the car will be indoors over night so I won't need ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine
Huge amount of work there ! Did you check the comp ratio on the standard heads as we found on the old gta 156 race cars they were 0.2:1 less the manufactures claim . How much do you intend shaving off to get to your 11:5:1 or is the top secret at this stage . What do you consider a reasonable ( max)...

Re: Best source for "new" AFM
If you use the BMW afm you also have to modify the airbox as the air flap is larger . With your mods I would not change to another type but source a better condition one instead . Check with Alex as he has huge amount of spares .

Nice , problem is everything is gonna be to perfect with no tweaking , fixing , paching so life's gonna be boring
But you will ever miss a track day and even have perfect visibility and warm feet in a snow storm .
