Sanity Baz is a relative thing. That is not to say some of your relatives have more that you. Frankly, I wouldn't know but what I strongly suspect is that your Guru cousin over there in sunbaked Greece has a couple of cuttlery items missing from the picnic set! :D ...I promise it's the last off topi...

Electrical

Sometimes it is just as cost effective to bite the bullet and get an auto electrician to reloom the car as required by completely cutting out sections and making up a fresh loom for the job. Cars that are as old as the GTV's can have many owners over time and you just never know what one of the owne...

Other

Don't forget the 116 series odometers go to 99,999 and then reset to zero. It is therefore possible that this car has done:-

25,000 Miles as claimed or it has done :-
125,000
225,000
325,000 and so on but it would only display 25,000

Stuff you lot. I am investing in a well greased TD taxi and race you on the autobahn. If its action you want, come and get it ! Knowing how far out all your timing is, by the time you get there, I will have vanished like a fa*t but that's life in the fast lane when you drive a TD taxi and a hot wenc...

Gearbox

Appreciate your candid response. I have been considering buying one and wondered about the benefits. One of the great things about this forum is that it is a huge test bed of different things that owners do to their cars. It's almost as if you have thought of it ,someone has already done it ! Thanks...

Please describe in more detail the nature of the shifting. You suggest that it is not so good. Thanks

So Al, what bars are you using front and rear now? Do you have coil overs or just torsion bars?

Don You are correct that the assembly should not require rebalancing if you just change the driven plate (friction plate). It is good practice however given the amount of work involved for maintenance purposes (as opposed to just trialing different clutch materials) and therefore cost to replace the...

If you do the job yourself, be sure to have the flywheel and clutch assembly balanced as a whole before installation and save yourself a lot of vibration grief.

Engine

Just to add a couple of things that the Greek Guru has said. You will need a substitute distributor to locate it up front like in the GTV6 as the one on the 164 can foul the firewall area. You will also need to install a return line to the fuel tank for an injected engine. You will also need V6 engi...

Zamani It is a standard 164 engine 12v "Although I don't understand why if the A/F is correct is a sign of exhaust restriction" What this means is that the intake fuel characteristics that the engine needs are being met and there is nothing you can do here. It also means that the amount of...

I understand that in an ideal situation, the rear track should not be larger than the front track. In fact it should be less so as not to deminish handling characteristics. You may get more traction at the price of handling. Take your pick.
