DeDion Bushing Replacement

I seem to remeber somewhaere that one could remove the deDion bushing without removing the the dedion triangle. I believe the front of the triangle was lowered and the orignal bushi9ng was cut out with a electric reciprocating saw. Anybody ever done that or does it seem to be a valid way to do it? I am planning to use the poly bushing not uniball.

Terry I guess in theory it's possible if you can get the rear end up good and high and find a way of blocking the assembly against the movement of the saw.The bushing is not only pressed into the dedion but it is also "staked" in other words the factory drives a punch into the upper "barrel" of the dedion which creates twp ridges which prevent the bushing from moving upwards.I found this one of the nastiest jobs I've done on my GTV6 - and I've done them all  If I was doing this again I'd pull the whole triangle and transaxle out of the car which makes the whole job much simpler. It's pretty simple to get it out and gives you the opportunity to check all the other failure prone components while you're at it.

I just removed my bush to replace it with a uniball. Taking down the DeDion is the easy way but theoretivally it is possible with it mounted for sure. First option is better time and sweatwise.

Did you source you uniball from RS Racing or IAP ?
I plan on doing the same on my GTV6's one road, one track which would you recommend my options are IAP Poly bushing SZ bushing IAP uniball and RS Racing uniball for road and track ?

my uniball is from SKF.

i have no experience in the others.
for road, i'd stick with oe. i also used it in my race car without problems. i'm replacing it with the uniball just as i happen to have the axle off. i really don't expect any big improvement.

Micke, what was the SKF number of that bearing ?
While I've got mine apart, I'd like to change that out.
Thanks.

I'll check it out as soon as I'm back home. It is NOT a direct replacement though!

Almost forgot.

SKF GEH 25 ES-2RS is the bearing I use.
