Hi Barry !

I´m new in this Forum and would have some more questions about the machining of the sleevs for the bearings.

Is there anything which blocks the axle (where the bearings were fixed) from mooving inside the wholes of the lower arm ?

From my point of view it´s theoreticaly possible that the complete assembly of the axle with the bearings can moove in the direction of the torsions-bar, not in direction of the big end cap because there you can srew in the cap.

Do you have machined the sleevs so that you have to press in the bearings or are they mooving inside the sleevs ?

Please write me back (via PM or e-mail), I have to do this work on my Race Alfa Romeo 75 V6 Gr. A.

If you are interested, I can send you some pictures of my racer.

Thank´s a lot Barry
Many greetings from Austria

Barry did this for me many years ago on my car . He machined a sleeve out of nylon which the bearings went into .

Hi Guys !

During the weekend I had a bit of time and so I removed a set of lower arms out of an old 75 3,0 V6 and then I "Played" a little with aluminium and mashined spacers and sleeves for the new construction with ball bearings. I also have made the sleeves on the torsion bar side with an end stop for the bearings. So there is now no possibility that the whole axle with bearings move inside the sleeves in axial direction. On the other side I mashined the big end caps so that the it will fix sleeve and outside diameter of the bearing.

I´ve made some pictures where you can see, ... take OLD make NEW.

Many greetings from Austria
Wolfgang

Nice work :)

Maybe you should produce some and sell them - I am sure you will have a few takers :)

Cheers
