Weird bearing chase

Post by MR2 Zig »

Welll, lets see here......I had the front wheel bearings starting to make some noise......so i go to get some new bearings and seals, no problem right? the outer bearings and races were right. the inners were.....not. The reference books say a SKF# BR6 set for GTV6 inner front wheel bearing. Mine (83 GTV6) has, aparently, 77 Alfetta spindles...according to the parts book (BR8 set). Except for the seals, of course, which are 42mm x 56mm x 7mm. This size of seal only shows as a timing cover seal in the auto parts books, but I finally found 2 as National # 3774.

I spent most of the week finding this out. I got the front this far apart....I may as well put the poly bushes, new ball joints , and tie rod ends in too.

whew
