Watts linkage bushes

Post by Bruce »

Hello.

I require a set of standard watts linkage (4) bushes for my 75. These are no longer available from Alfa UK and I do not want poly bushes. Any idea where I can obtain some??

IMHO they transmit (for a road car) road noise and are not compliant, i.e too hard.

They can be harsh, for sure.

Thing is though, you're talking about the Watts pivots. A bit different to other suspension pick-up points in terms of vibration transmission. If there's one place you can use poly without compromising comfort, it's here.

My '6 has poly on all 5 Watts pivots and on the DeDion apex. I can't say that there was any deterioration in NVH.

If I were you, I'd call Andy at Performatek and get his take on it.

Use the poly ones where you can. The stock Alfa bushes are crap because they are as old as the car an tent to fail faster. I use poly bushes everywhere and I don't have any vibration. The only vibration i've got was from bad tyres. I changed them and all the vibration was gone.

Ditto.

Very crisp handling too. Recommended upgrade. It works because there is not much rotation in the bushings, I know there has been problems in positions where they need to rotate alot and take large loads, like control arm fixing points.

I agree with all these guys. The GTV6 suspension is not like that on your dad's old MG. Poly bushings will not cause a noticeable decrease in comfort. They are one of the few true no compromises upgrades.
