Race tires

I was initially complaining about the lack of sizes for race tires. Specifically if you use 16" wheels, your tire sizes are limited to 2(which can fit the miniscule wheel arches of the 116 cars).
225/50/16 (almost all manufacturers)
205/45/16 (Kumho V700 ECSTA, Hoosier RS304)
The problem with the 225/50/16 size is that it is a little to tall for the car. The weight and the gearing penalty can really be felt. The 205/45/16 size is a little on the narrow side and the Kumho ECSTA V700 is not known for its longevity or outright grip.
However, recently on tirerack.com a new size has just come out
215/40/16 (Kumho V710)
This means gearing will be improved compared to using 225/50/16. It has also been said on other forums like rennlist.org, honda-tech, etc that the Kumho V710 is nearly as fast as the Hoosier RS-304 and lasts longer too. So this seems like a good compromise.
It would be nice to have the Toyo Proxes RA-1 in 225/40/16 (longevity, decent grip, low price), but that remains a fairy tale for now.
