75 track car

Hey all,

I'm finally in a position to relieve my 75 Twinspark of its daily driver duties.

I'm going to be more or less converting it into a hillclimb/track car.

First up is going to be the suspension. I'm not planning to modify the engine at all.

I've been looking around at options and won't be going the coilover route from RSR.

I need some advice about options.

I'm planning: Bigger torsion bars, sway bars, stiffer rear springs, PU bushes, those control arms from PACE and any other odds and ends that I need.
Wider wheels and a cage.

Am I able to get bigger torsion bars from Australia or do I need to shop overseas for that?

Thanks if anyone has any advice.

I know Vin at PACE normally has torsion bars on the shelf for the 116 chassis (both early and late derivatives) so a quick call to him could prove helpful.

Randall Perkins automotive are apparantly brilliant and supply anything you could ever need.

Randall Perkins Auto Repairs

They will usually freight within Aus.

I'm right in the middle of rebuilding and setting an Alfa 90 up for a track day vehicle and will be pretty much doing similar things as you by the sounds of it, although I am not going with a cage.
The 90 and 75 are both 160 series platforms (mechanically almost identical), so if we can collaborate and get discounts on two of items it might work out well? At the very least we could cut freight costs. Just an idea.
I guess you might be going to race with SDMA? I am planing to join them as soon as I have my car sorted out.
Anyway, keep us informed and share all the information and sources you find, I'll do likewise.

Regards, Andrew.

Thanks guys I'll give em a call.

Typhoon, do you live in Canberra? I'd be happy to share freight costs etc...

Yep I'm a member of SDMA. I used to race a GTV6 there but it rolled down a long hill and hit a tree :(

Why do cars ALWAYS hit trees? There can be a 10 hectare field to careen across with one tree, and the car will always find it!
Yep, I live in Canberra. 'll probably see you at Fairbairn park one day, or on the road.

Regards, Andrew.

Alfettish , 28mm should be good for twinspark if gutted to be a lightweight . I have them on my v6 road but still not nearly heavier enough for v6. Full race set up on v6 we use 33mm which is around 160kg. Check out www.faster.se hope thats correct address.

I'm pretty sure Randall Perkins use pace tb's. They're good (rp) but charge heaps. Stick with pace I'd say

Thanks fellers.

I contacted Vince this morning and he suggested I use 30mm torsion bars if I'm gonna be running R tyres (which I plan on doing).

Does anyone have opinions on wheels spacers??

I know, it's ridiculous.

Cheers Andrew I'll see you round.
