30mm Sway Bar

Post by enkai74 »

Has anyone used or know of the hollow sway 30mm sway bar that is made by http://www.faster.se

It seems reasonably priced.

Any reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Need more information, like the internal diameter.

Anti-roll bars/swaybars aren't a handling answer when done by themselves.

I know the guy, I'll ask. :)

On the other hand, it doesn't say they're hollow anywhere.

Well I kind of let it go since it didn't say they are hollow. :|
I can't imagine him gun drilling them and not mention it to be honest.

Ok, I'm looking for a front 27 - 30mm bar that's adjustable, hollow is a bonus... RSR is the only choice at the moment other than Faster.se and Faster.se seem to be reasonable in price.

Any other suggestions would be epic.

Here's the epic suggestion: http://www.artracing.co.uk/parts-and-services/

Replica Autodelta adjustable torsion bar crossmember. Fits pre -82 body though... But it's aluminium!

Pity you were looking for that now as I just sold my original Autodelta Adjuster set plus 28mm bars . Now my kitten has nothing to chew on :D
Your only option on torsion bars is from USA . Probably need 33mm solid if you want equivalent off 200kg springs ( linear ) up front . The only problem for me is those bars are splines are cut - broached and not rolled . Our lecturer always insisted on rolled as you don't get stress risers . I think its same concept of having your wheel bolts CNC cut - its no go . But then I have not seen anyone report a failure so that's a good enough trial . News would spread fast if a set ever failed .
Starting to feel miserable after parting with rare genuine Autodelta parts . :|

I'd say you would have destroyed a lot of other parts before a cut spline breaks, if you are nervous you can harden and shot peen them in the spline root.
We build cars with halfshafts with cut splines at work all the time and have had no issues yet, hardened super steel though (Uddeholm Orvar Supreme).
We have had issues with how the spline start looks like though, you need to do a sweep-out and not a sharp end. If you like me have stared at a lot of spline ends on different driveshafts you know that a rolled spline really doesn't mean a nice spline, a lot of them has an evil looking inside corner in the root of the spline where it ends. Square and pointy. That will give you cracks.

Nice Mats, good info! Haven't heard of splines break or issues with rolled/cut type, just 36mm hollow bars break when used on other than smooth track surface. Now, rolled/cut wheel studs or other critical fasteners...that's serious and hes been discussed some time ago.

A pity indeed! Someone would be happy with that purchase though.

I have 30mm PACE TB's fitted at the moment and looking for a sway bar. I have read mixed reports about how big to go so thought I'd start at a 30mm adjustable ARB and work down from there.

A little bit late, but since I have this arb, well I guess Ill chime in. As you noticed the price is very nice especially if you consider that arb's for our cars are just a hollow pipe with two arms welded on both ends - not really a rocket science. The bars are hollow, adjustable, welds are quite fine, the only issue I had was that the original paint was really bad and started peeling off very soon - to some that is not an issue, but I had mine powder coated later. All in all, go for it.
