Tire Rubber Age vs Grip

Anyone have a feel for how much grip tire rubber looses as they age?
It's pretty substantial on some old snow tires I have. Not near the traction.
I've been using some older highway tires lately that I took off a Verde I parted out and believe they've seen better days as well, even though there is good tread left. These are nice Dunlop SP8000 or 9000 or something like that.

Depends on rubber compound. There's no clear rule but most tires start to suffer after 2-4 years.

Thanks Micke.

And to continue with the question; There's quite a selection of track tires available. So if track tires arn't used up within a year, then they'd better be used up by end of year two or they will also get harder and loose their effectiveness.

Thanks,
