Re: PICTURES-Different wheels for Alfa`s-Barry

Post by PietereQ »

Since I've sold all of my 15's (even the stock mag-capagolos wich I kinda regret now) and my car's rolling out next week I had to desperately buy some 17" rims (330mm rotors).
I managed to buy a set of Allesio wheels with tyres for a bargain price. I dont know the model name of the wheels but the specs are: 17" x 7,5" 5x100 et35. I must admit they look much better IRL which was a nice suprise. I was actually thiking of painting them in flat gunmetal/black.

They are my favourite wheel for the 75! Well, I have a set on the shelf to fit in the future once my car is nearly finished. They are no longer a current wheel, so you will most likely need to buy secondhand/used.

The ones in the pic are 18", and I think the tyres are 215/35R18. However, that size tyre does not meet the required load index for the 3.0, so I will be fitting 225/35R18.

My wheels are OZ Racing Superleggera 18x8" 5x100 PCD, +35mm offset. I will be using 'wobble nuts' to meet the Alfa's 5x98 PCD. Centre bore is 75mm diameter, so I have 75/58.6mm hub rings. I will have them refurbished (minor gutter rash repaired, then resprayed) and painted in metallic dark grey to match the side stripe/door handle colour.

The GTV6 will always be a very difficult car to match wheels to (I'm not a fan of the originals), bearing in mind that anything bigger than a 15 inch throws out the sublime balance of these sophisticated machines.

I've gone for a set of impossible to find Ronal Turbo's, they are 1 piece magnesium 15" 7J all round. They are so light You can pick them up with 1 finger. After I had fitted them I was shocked at how much lighter the car felt in corners and the way it just glided over rough surfaces. In other words a fantastic transformation, unsprung weight reduction is very underrated yet before Alfa Romeo was bought by FIAT in 1986 it was a focal point for many years.

Here are some pictures of my original MKIII 1983 GTV6:

re comment about 'bigger that 15', in my experience it is the offset of the wheel and the width of the tyre that has more of an impact.

That twin turbs GTV6 is the toughest looking 1 I've ever seen! Any more photos, Kevin?
And your track GTV6 always looks awesome, too! They just suit white and wheels that properly fill the guards. :D
