grant wrote: John, thanks for posting all of those pictures, that was really cool to look at. Why do you say the evo kit doesn't buy you anything? Am I better off just flaring my original fenders? I don't care about looks, I just want to fit as wide of tires as possible.
You mean in the other thread about the Evo kit for sale down under...?

Well, just to be clear because many guys call me or G2 to inquire about the kits - thinking/hoping that they are going to gain wheel-well clearance, when it fact - you don't! Where the Evo wheel-arch pieces wrap in to the fender-well (just like on a Verde arch), it actually decreases the clearance a bit! Not by much but still. It looks kind of cool (once you blend them in with the stock body-panels so that it doesn't look so tacked on), but it doesn't help you in the "clearing wider wheels" department!

The only way to gain fender-well clearance is to roll-under or cut-out the stock fenders and do something custom...

Any way - some more from back home;

My nephew posing in Dawie's brother's twin spark 105 GTV (I think he sold that car now...)

Clive Densham's (from Dastek/UniChip) vintage effort - he is DAMN fast in that car - did very well last year...

The "red car" - back when it was the "blue car" with different wheels on it. I absolutely LOVE how this guy blended the body-kit in to everything...

Also - one of the Glenwood customers from some time ago - I sherpa'ed some forged ali pistons and gapless rings down for this guy's turbo GTV-4... Still love those cars - looks just like a more "modern" GTV6 but with the flat hood and the light 4-banger up front!

This car went like a raped ape! Barry, what happened to it - still around...?

Not an Alfa? Sure it is - 3.45 litre 24 valve TT heart!

An original South African GTV6 3.0 wheel - from the concorso a few years back - they look nice all 3.0s all lined up like that...

Domingos' Giulietta - back when he was still running the turbo 16 valve twin spark... He has since then gone to the dark-side (3.45 litre 24 valve!)

My GTV6 with RIAL rims

Post by Lucio »

Here's my GTV6 with vintage RIAL 7x15 rims. These rims were originally installed by Alfa Romeo on "Grand Prix" versions for the German market.

The 80s Giuli with the 3.45 litre 24 valve is a freekin' BLAST now! (Besides, the stupid turbo TS 16 valve won't keep their bearings in the block - even when stock with no turbo...)

Here are some more shots of Brad's Milano/75 when it had the Team Dynamics 1.2s on it and with the new wheels and brakes...

I figure I'll keep her goin' here. Not A GTV-6 but still close. I like the old classic looking wheels like the Panasports on my 'Fetta. I have most of the stuff for a six conversion if I ever get around to re doing the paint and body.

My 6-speed daily driver now (not a GTV6 or a Milano - I know), but still an Alfa (and yeah - a transaxle at that... :lol: )

17 x 7.5 Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s with 235/40/17s - moved the little thin OEM spacers (normally on the front of these cars), to the rear... I bought these unfinished from TD and had them flat matte black powder-coated by American Powder Coatings in Kent. (These are the wheels that originally were on the 3.7 Milano...)

As for the rest of it (for those interested);

1995 164 LS (Super to the rest of the world.) Installed a Glenwood 3.45 litre 10.7:1 24 valve with Pauter rods, 100mm Ross Racing pistons, Total Seal rings etc. Still on hydraulic lifters. Stock exhaust for now (except for the Remus rear section.)

Added a UniChip piggy-back from Dastek and we're about to remove the flapper-crapper AFM and replace it with a hot-wire MAS-type pass-through tube ("driven" by a Split-Second signal converter.)

Also - as mentioned - converted from automatic to manual and then installed a 3.7:1 6-speed manual from a 156 GTA... Total terror to drive. Waiting on an LSD.

Koni Yellows. B&G springs. Eibach anti-troll-bars front and rear. Brakes are next...
