Anyone out there have suggestions on removing pin stripes ?
They look like factory tape type stripes on the door I installed and I'd like to remove them without damaging the paint.
Thanks,
Merril

fingernail at the edge and pull slowly...if they are tape type they should peal right off simply enuf...if not use a SHARP razor blade and work carefully and you wont hurt the paint...get in a hurry and you may scratch it a bit but nothing that wont buff out

if any residue is left behind use some goofoff

Thanks Shortlife. I'll give that a try. Depending upon how the tape responds I wonder if a plastic edge might work as well. Something like an ice scraper.

sometimes.....also if you can wait for summer or heat your garage to 80+ it makes them more likely to come off easy and in a single piece vs breaking evry few inches

heat the stripe with a hair drier first, or heat gun on a low setting, it will come of easy then

There is a product from 3M that does that very efficiently, it's a rubber wheel that peels it off without damaging the paint.

Never heard of that 3M rubber wheel there Mats.
I think I'll try the hair dryer first. Also, the forcast is for 70deg F this Saturday so I'll allow for some heat soak in the sun and give it a try.
That rubber wheel sounds interesting though. If my first try doesn't work out too well, I'll see if I can find that 3M gadget.
Thanks guys,

Merril,
I think you should be able to find the 3M wheel at a professional auto body supply. I don't remember seeing any at mass market auto parts places (ie kragens, auto zone, etc). NAPA might have it.

Well, I got the stripes off.
What a non event !
They were vinal or something and pulled right off.
I followed up with a light applicaton of rubbing compound and that resulted with no sign that the stripes ever existed.
So I guess I sweated over nothing.
Thanks everyone !
