Hi there,

My GTV6 has a little rust spot the size of a nickel on the little strip of vertical metal and I would like to know if it is possible to replace it with another piece? If so, how do I go about doing it? I enclosed a picture of a GTV6 (not mine but downloaded) to show the piece.

To remove and replace that item is a real nuisance job. My suggestion is a short cut.

Apply some rust converter over the strip and then some rust proofing paint like Valvoline Tectyl 506 but only to the affected parts.

Once stabilised, get a metal bending firm to bend up a piece of the same profile and length in stainless steel to cover the existing one. You could simply clip it over and secure with some polyurethane adhesive. (never use silicone agents around the car)

Before fixing, prepaint the strips to you chosen colour.
