How to buy a used 2.5 motor for $1000.00 USD

Post by Jack_Linguini »

Denoya trading is trying again to sell a $500 GTV6 for ~$4500.00.

I was doing my normal Ebay search "alfa gtv6"

and there were 3 pages of stuff today. whoa !

Well upon examination I see that it is all courtesy of rezdoc AKA Denoya
Trading company. I've never purchased from them so no 1st hand exp.
BUt the photos always look cr@ppy. And the prices he wants are obscene.

A search of alfa gtv6 + rezdoc came up w
68 items found for
gtv6 Show only: Items from seller rezdoc

Wow !!! So for no good reason other than to avoid doing actual work on a Friday I added them all up $4500.00 !!! wow.

Ok might be some dupes. Anyway, picking from the list here's
what it would cost buy it now prices to build an (incomplete) motor:

Alfa Romeo GTV6 2.5 litre Engine Block
Buy It Now $200.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Standard Crankshaft 2.5 litre
Buy It Now $175.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Front Crank Pulley
Buy It Now $50.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Flywheel
Buy It Now $35.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Flywheel Bolts 81-86
Buy It Now $12.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Pistons and Liners 2.5 litre
Buy It Now $100.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Left Cylinder Head
Buy It Now $200.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Right Cylinder Head
Buy It Now $200.00

Alfa Romeo GTV6 Timing Belt Gears
Buy It Now $60.00

Total $1032. And you don't have an oil pan, oil pump, or a distributor.

anyway. Makes me realize more and more why you would want
to buy a parts car anyday of the week. Buying bits and pieces will kill
you !!!

After keeping hold of my 84 GTV6s gas cap for almost 3 years I lost it.
sigh. New ones are going for >$100 on ebay and used for $50.

BTW it's 5 fahrenheit in Denver today. I don't think I'll be tooling the
ALFA about this weekend.

bests

Jack,This is a bit late..The one and foremost reason for byers to be aware of so called "bargain" e-bay specials..
I just got a set of Brembo calipers off e-bay(thanks JK..)But the price was right(400euros)and they were brand new..
I cannot see how a front pulley can be 2x the price of the flywheel here..
Mmmmm..
