Confused again...
To run spark (simple, dizzy) from the F-idle output, do I have to change anything on the board?
From what I understand from reading the FAQ (http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra ... dware.html) to run EDIS I need to do this:
-Remove D9. Solder a 1k resistor between the left (non band) end of D9 and the small hole above D9 (+5v). [Resistor can be 1k to 10k - it is a pull-up to +5V on the SAW output.
-Connect DB37 pin 30 (FIDLE) to SAW on the EDIS module **It can be very useful to install a plug and socket in this line.
-Remove D5, D8, R10
-Remove jumper between XG1-XG2
-Fit wire between XG1 and right of D5 (non band)
...
wtf?? I thought it was a simple swap between just controlling the ignition EDIS?
This is not something I'm looking forward too.
Or do I have to do all that stuff when just controlling the ignition in it's simplest form using the Hall-effect and dizzy? I thought it was only a software change?
BTW: What is "multispark" referring to in the EDIS discussions?

do you want to run EDIS? Electronic Distributorless Ignition SystemFrom what I understand from reading the FAQ (http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra ... dware.html) to run EDIS I need to do this:
or a distributor?
thats the right page

Quoting myself...
So if I make everything to run it with a dizzy I would have to make "some" hardware changes in the MS if I wanted to move to EDIS later?Mats wrote: I'll start off with a MS'n'Extra controlling fuel and spark, the 12x12 tables looks nice too.
Maybe move to EDIS later on but I'm going to try to at least get it set ut with this simpler solution first.

I get a pre built tested unit with flyback in a CNC machined box for 250 USD. Thats hard to beat.
Haltech, well, the more Ilooked into it the more I disliked it, patchwork and ancient.
DTA looks like a good bet right now but it is a whole different investment compared to an MS box, the MS box can also be a VERY cheap way to get started mapping engines without risking the expensive bits as "learning money".
The MS can be used for just about anything which makes is an almost fail safe buy, controlling ignition on my racer for instance and I won't feel like I'm wasting capacity.
Gotech, yeah, cheap but really, where is the support? Support from an internet forum is really not worth a shit in the real world so instead of buying a decent product for a pretty good price with no support I can get MS or VEMS pre built for less money with the same functionality and the same amount of support (or more, there is always some lunatic in the area that has done a MUCH more advanced MS installation that knows all the problems).
As it is now my budget doesn't allow a DTA system (bloody magnificent support) so instead of stopping I turn...
Better to do something then so just sit and wait, fooling around and you learn stuff.

No online shop, a fellow alfisti.
Maybe I don't need a flyback but thats what he had so why not.
Maybe thats a good thing since I'm planning to test it on the 75 T engine first, I'm not too keen on trying this out the first time on a newly built engine.
