Fair enough.

The more I read about MS the more I wanna tinker with it. I should really get me set up with one of those and play around a little on the 75 T...
I have always wondered what the 75 T would feel like with proper fuel/spark control. I also need the skill/map before I start up the new engine... :o

No I don't, would be good to have though as it would be a good map to stay away from... ;)

My impression is that the 75 T engine is credited of being a fantastic engine when it is really a patchwork that is only thrown into production to be able to race the 75 in Group A. Looking at how the engine is designed it is very clear that economy and robustness has had a leading role during the design phase, VERY low compression ratio, "safe" cams and a "safe" ignition map to make the car run with no detonation.
The problem is that it's so boringly slow in standard form that people try to tweak it to get more power, i.e. turn the dizzy to raise the advance and raise the boost. This makes the ignition ECU lower the ignition advance at high RPM and the whole thing just melts. :/
Raising the compression and proper cams and timing will probably make it pretty fast, much faster then the stock setup anyway. ;)

This is what I'll explore with my new engine so stay tuned (pun intended)

I mean how to get control of it, play whith the stock ignition stuff or go for EDIS4?

And what about the Knock sensor?

I´m new in the 1.8T world, so i have more questions than answers...

Anyway, i have to take a loong look to the stock ignition schematics if i want to drive the stock ignition trough the megasquirt.

Just unhook the standard ignition ECU and use the hall-effect in the dizzy to trigger the ignition amplifier via the MS box.
That will have to do for now.

Knock sensor will be disabled or at least not fed back to the ECU (MS).

ok, I got some boxes today... :)

Too bad I've heard some people have had problems with running the Extra code on their MS boxes, apparently the hardware couldn't take it.

Why do you always find out stuff like this after you got the gear? :(

ok, so what do I need to run MSnS Extra stable? I have really no idea where to find the software you are talking about because whenever I find a download site everything is just a big pile of DL links...

I need some sort of SW tweak in the box itself I'm guessing? Tuning software? Anything else that can come in handy?
If you could post links too that would be fantastic. :D

I'm off to put a gearbox together, at least that's easy. :)
