Sorry for the dumbass questions again, but I assume that our cars (standard 2.5) trigger from the coil and I should just skip to step 50b of the assembly guide?
Thanx Tim.
Tim - no the L-Jetronic takes its ignition and fuel trigger from the distributor. In there you have either a hall or variable reluctor sensor. You can determine which you have by removing the cap and looking for :
1) Hall effect has a metal disc with 6 windows cut out along its edge.
2) VR has a six-pointed star
When you set up your MS you can fire off the coil negative if you are setting up to run fuel control only but you'll bring quite a bit of electronic "noise" into your MS.Best is to detemine which trigger distributor pickup system you have and build your board appropriately, then if and when you bring ignition control into the equation you're ready to go.I have a Hall and can guide you on that,Steve R has a VR and he knows all about those.
