Maurizio.
There's no difference in the roll stiffness made by springs or an AR bar. Both reduce the load on the inner wheel just the same.
Only difference is the ratio longitudinal vs lateral stiffness.

I know .... but I kind off not agree. An ar bar pulls itself down on the stiffness of the other side.Micke wrote:Maurizio.

At the back with the massive dion weight and with the front vs back stiffness in a good balance etc..... I see it won't make a lot of difference
But pure theoretical: Imagine an infinite stiff ar bar in front and a low stiffness in the back, you are going to lift the inner wheel while cornering.
I see the old GTAm pictures in my head with the inner wheel high in the air from the late 70's .
Ok It will not act that extreme, but my guess there is some traction loss at the inner wheel at the back with an ar bar. You obviously can't go too stiff with springs either, but I kind of lean to minimal ar bar in the back.
So please educate me

Agree or not - doesn't change the facts.
Whether the tire is ½ meter up in the air or on the surface with 0 N vertical force doesn't change its lateral force one bit.
This is one of the more typical misconseptions. Just like I've heard a gazillion times that a light flywheel reduces torque.

I'll keep trying
... a spring won't pull the inner wheel up, so the vertical force between the inner tire and the tarmac is more then with a bar.

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
BTW, if you put the blue spring on the bottom you get more unsprung weight...
0(2) so far for you!
And yes, I actIually go down in spring and add bar, because I'm trying to change lat/long Stiffnes ratio. I will probably make a new bar but I need a baseline first.
Let's see what happens when I add a wing later on.

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Mats, what is the spring rate (N/mm or LBS) on your new springs
Front ?
Rear ?
Front ?
Rear ?

But some Beer might fix that.Mats wrote: Please don't ask for rates because you won't get an answer anyway at this point.

omg no, white month now or something...
Swedish midsummer is something you need to experience first hand to understand.
Anyway, welded up the spring perches yesterday. The flash adds weight not only to girls obviously, the welds doesn't look as fat in reality.

I think there is something wrong with me...
Last week I bought a 164 3.0 Super 24v, this week I bought a 155 V6 Sport -96 (Widebody).
Two FWD V6 cars in two weeks? What the h3ll..?

Complete with std Alfa Pink plastic parts...
Not a rocket by any standard but a fun to drive summer car. Feels like Koni Sports on it though and they MUST go! Useless!

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Mats , I thought it was just my red 164 that came with pink handles and mirrors. Make sure your water system on 164 is perfect from radiator , waterpump, coolant bootle cap etc because all of my 164's heater units have exploded on my feet(from unecessary pressure). That and the steering rack rubbers is all you have to worry about otherwise good comfortable motoring. Oh and if battery is flat dont push car while forcing the steering wheel to full lock as the steering pump seels POP.
Prefer that widebody 155 though .
What you doing for fuel tank in race car ?

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Lovely! i've been looking for a decent 164 myself over here to replace the 33, i'm looking for something more confortable, but sadly most i've seen are all beaten up...

Re: Mats Strandberg (SWE)
Interesting, up here we have issues with the door locks, they seem to seize over time and one day the handle just snaps loose from the lock itself...kevin wrote:Mats , I thought it was just my red 164 that came with pink handles and mirrors. Cambelts are an issue as well of course, and water pumps, and clutches, and, and...

Fuel tank will be a custom Alu job. Strange rules here makes it ok as long as it is up to 30 liters. Makes it cheap and favorable to make ones own, fittings and such will be in the correct position and so on.
