Kevin,
I am confused. Bananas can be straight, thick, short, bent and in fact some people can go bananas but they are never red. Been losing some sleep over this, please explain.

MD, aaaah yes to clear up any confusion there is a simple explanation. However I won't tell you right now as you have been half asleep most of your life and I am waiting for your sleep pattern to resync.

I decided to lower the front ride height as it was ridiculously to high. Even after dropping it plus minus 20-25mm it’s still pretty conservative but this suits the 16” replica Compomotives. Final ride height is now 165mm under front jacking points.
I had a half day to do this with no hoist so double checked the manual for directions of turning bars and the amount each spline dropped the height and got to work. Five hours later and removing bars once only it was perfect .
For those interested I can recap what manual states : each spline is equivalent to 1.5mm . As there are different number of splines on each end of the bar each position will effect the ride height . Thus if you lowering the car when looking at the torsion bar cross member from the back you would turn the right bar anti clockwise and left bar clockwise . I needed to lower the left side 30mm so therefore rotated the bar 20 splines while the right side was 22mm so 14 splines was the closests . Before you remove bars mark a datum mark to the rear crossmember and to back of bar . The front already has a mark on A arm so only a mark the bar was needed.
Before this whole process starts you need to loosen off the top of the front shocks and split top ball joint so the lower A arm is free . Keep a jack under the A arm to help get into the new correct position when lining up the torsion in there new position.
You only have to do this process once and it’s very accurate to achieve the exact ride height . I budgeted on four hours but it took five . A sticky ball joint slowed me up.
There was a special Alfa factory tool to pull the bars out however you can fabricate your own tool using threaded bar and a steel tube . A few pics to follow .

A short unknown poem about Kevin..

Young Kevin drinks and smokes
and hangs around with blokes that wear pink laces..

I told you it was short. :D

I’m just glad you mentioned “young “ , I feel much better now. It’s way to boring to make poems about Ozzies …. every stanza ends in an “o”. Probably goes something like this … There was an old fart from Banyo, who drove an Alfa Romeo……

I will stop there as not to embarrass myself in front of your mate Jimbo now that he has another book out after a long time in limbo

Nice ride height Kev, I have the 27mm so I’ve been dreading to lower mine any at all, just too much work. About 1.5 finger gap. I think George’s car has no gap at all?

Good job keeping MD in his place, he needs to realize that triple digits are only good on the speedometer and not on his age. :D

That is a ridiculous price, sometimes you think it’s a battle of egos at an auction and all sense goes out the window. It was a very good car make no mistake. In the greater scheme of things it is definitely one of Alfas rarest Homologation cars in terms of numbers produced. Time will tell to see what the next one will sell for. In Oz it has touched the 1bar mark as well. Hopefully we don’t start getting a whole lot of fakes ! But it’s easy enough to tell them apart.

Wow. Really takes this car out of the the reach of regular working folks.

My dad has a nice red 3.0, but we're not going to sell that. Probably build a warehouse in his backyard and stuff all the cars in there.

Finally some good weather combined with Classic Alfa Trackday at Goodwood. Unfortunately my GTV6 trackcar failed the DB test even with three silencers on the side exit pipe . I think the big bore “bass” is just to deep ! I was 102 db already at 4000rpm on a 98db day

Kevin I think you have a tyre noise problem. Remember you only need two to go round corners.
