It might have a slight frown. I may cut a groove on top and reweld it.

Once the whole car is painted white, It will not stick out as much....

Bumpers off a 69 camaro or something from that era... 200$ for front and rear.

Wow OKP parts shipped from Germany and arrived in 4 days!!

Now i have an assortment of shims and a new set of friction discs (see pic)

Wife says 'she is tired of seeing this piece of shit in the driveway' So I take it she means bring it to a body shop! As Good as saying 'OK..spend 6000$' in my book!!! :D

Rebuilt steering rack. No play at all. rack very nice shape (thanks Krazyman ebay)..new boots, new grease... all plastic covers and rubber like new (with a little silicone treatment) I could not find a ~32mm crow's foot locally, so I ground down a 1 1/4 in wrench...worked fine.

I can see that if you leave the stabilizer off, you can use driver side boot on both sides (IAP has both bellows, however, the passenger side one is very cheap chinese rubber, driver side is very well made. I kept the original Alfa piece just in case..)

I measured the inner tie rods..passenger side is ~1cm longer including the spacer the holds the boot. You may be able to get away with just two of the driver side inner tie rods???? I say this because it seems the passenger side is NLA....

Xrad,

WTF are you doing with that damper on the steering rack ?? !!!

That crap is only fitted to four wheek drive vehicles that are doing serious off road work like chasing sheep in paddocks. The thing is there to protect your wrist from breaking off when you suddenly hit a rock and the steering wheel gets a huge kick around unexpectedly.

If this was necessary, they would fit it around the world and on all cars like headlights. Piss it off. Its affecting your steering response.

My guess it was originally destined for the Yank market. It's just useless dead weight.

Ha ha. It's only taken 1739 posts !! :D

Don't want to be too hard on him just a small kick up the butt will do. That's cause I like the guy. He is a real doer and tries real hard to get to where he wants his car to be. Whether others agree with some steps or not is not relevant. Can't put a guy down for that.

The crap they put on cars destined for the US market is sometimes just unbelievable.

Speaking about the steering shocks I heard that the 164 with big engines benefit from it. Else it tries to pull the arms off. Didn't try my self. We removed it from my fathers 164 TS and it's at least not worse than before.
