The suspension took longer that we expected but there were alot of small details especially putting back the bushings & bearings. This was very time consuming and not really that much fun. IMO. We had to press out the old bolts from my old rotors and put it in my new rotors. We also changed the castor rod to a ball joint. This was not that hard but took alot of time and careful measurement. We were able to accomplish everything but I was happy that I was not doing this on my own. Here are the pictures of the front suspenion progress.

Once the Front Suspension was set up we put on the front brakes. I like the RS Brakes and it is so easy to change the pads. Here are the pictures of the brakes being done.

We then worked on putting the Di Dion together along with the rear suspension. This was not too hard except to put it back in the car. It was very heavy and since we did not have a lift it made it even more exciting. I think that this part of the Alfa looks the best especially with everything clean and new. Here are picture of the status

So we were able to complete the rear suspension and were good to go. Just need to put on the rear wheels & tires.

This is were we ending my project for now. I am going to be busy with work for the next 2-3 weeks so I do not think I will personally have time to work on my project but I can almost smell the exhaust and hear the engine. Thanks for looking at the progress of my project and hope everyone has a Happy New Year and and Happiness for 2007. :D

Yeah, what fun - I consider myself fortunate to be able to work on such a beautiful project, getting nothing but the best and owned by a professional - perfectionist - such as Chuck! He wants it done right, (watches the cost, but does not short his Alfa with cheap crap!) He gives it all that is worth!

...and worth a great deal it is - this is the car that Chuck drove when he met his wife! He is the first owner - he bought it as a young man some 25 years ago when he was about 19, 20 or so... That is so cool (and it did not go to the junker/some 2nd owner for a 1000 bucks - as it was almost slated to...!) Chuck and his wife are great hosts - a true gentleman (even when I get cranky - like I sometimes do - just ask Jes!) I want to start this thing on the next trip and get her over to a dyno shop!

Small things that still need to be done before that, alignment, drive-shaft and rear anti-roll bar final assembly, brake-bleed etc, but for the most part - the bottom is done and now the engine, GoTech and the exhaust setup comes next!

Brian - FYI; the brakes are full floating all of the way around! The rears are NOT simple old cast SZ rotors - these are zinc-dipped specialty, custom rotors that mount with floating hardware to aluminium hats! About the only thing that they share in common with the SZ rears are that they are vented...

In addition to being full floating and much lighter, the aluminium hats ensure a great deal less heat-transfer on to the hubs and in to the gearbox! The reconditioned calipers are GUTTED! They run brand new pistons, seals, o-rings etc etc and yes - the spacers to accommodate the thicker vented rotors!

The front Group 2/GiroDisc setup also runs brand new 4-pot Wilwood ultra lights (supper-super light-weight aluminium calipers!) The front rotors are 280mm - also zinc-dipped, also full-floating, also with aluminium hats - light, looks awesome, anodized - won't rust and keeps the heat out of that wheel-bearing!

Various Wilwood street/track pads available for the front and Ferodos for the rear... Custom aluminium mounting brackets for the fronts - all hardware included and three brand new stainless steel braided lines to round it all off! (Joe English told me that you guys talked - are you guys going for it?) I run them on my street/track Verde - I love 'em!

We are developing a larger meaner AP-based 6-pot front/4-pot outboard rear setup for the two 3.7 litre race cars based on the same principles but as an all-new total-engineered system with resized dual master cylinders and 330mm discs! The existing setup for aggressive street/track is the way to go! The quality is unreal!

Chuck - get the interior done!

...to Alfa, or not to Alfa? That is the question...

Hello Everyone,

I think everyone is at Willow Springs this weekend. I wish I was able to go and see the races. I am at a pause today. My work project has been extended to the 1/17/06 so I took some time for my Alfa. Joe ( the interior person) stopped by and picked up my front seats & rear seats along with the rear interior parts last week. I will be stopping by asap to give him the front door panels, center console, and other misc items to be restored. I just need to pick out the final leather sample. I will also be picking the headliner material and new carpet. I picked up my rebuilt radiator. The radiator is in good condition and I did not realize that my Alfa has only have around 8 lbs of pressure in its' system. Seems low to me but that was what I was told. We cleaned up the steering rack. Unfortunatly, the steering rack rubber boots are no where to be found. Therefore, I will be shipping this to Andrew for his rebuilding since he has similar after market rubber boots. Since this is a street car I have decided not to change it for a better steering ratio that could be used for the track. Here is a picture of the new radiator and my steering rack. I will post some before and after pictures of the interior as soon as I get my new digital camera.
