To consider a positive side to that - sandblasting a car isn't highly recommended due to the ability of the heat produced to warp panels, especially for larger panels that aren't all too thick. Your better off getting it acid dipped, or I've even heard of 'bean bag blasting' using small bean bag balls on large aircraft, both options are something worth considering, but probably not as cheap as sandblasting was.
As for interior - are you still aiming to restore it to a similar factory condition? Or have you indefinitely decided to go all out? If you go the tan route, you'll find you'll probably need to retrim the whole interior to get it all to match, however it can look great. This is the what a tan interior on a 75 can look like in Nizams (AlfaBB) daily driver - http://www.nizam.com/Techno/interior/index.html
Sounds like a great project you've got going though! Good luck with it!

Interior Restore
Hi Rookie Rox,
I am leaning towards restoring the interior to original condition. When I met with the interior people I will see what options I have. A total custom interior is not out of the question at this point. If I go that route I would not redo the old seats but buy modern seats. Thanks for the short cut to the tan interior Milano. I really appreciate this. I am going to get the dash repaired and having the color changed as well. I was thinking black dash rather than tan. The interior is currently blue and black but I want a red alfa. Therefore, the current interior is not going to match. I was wondering does the tan interior alfa original come with a black dash or tan. If anyone knows I would apprecate it. As you can possibly tell I am making up my mind on the fly. Too me this does not matter much since anyway I finally decide to go is an improvement from the way my current status of the interior.
Peace

Body Work
Hello,
Had a chance to stop by the warehouse tonight to check out the Alfa.
I was going to remove the dash but my associate said to wait for the body to be prepared and then we will take out the windshield. We have started to stand down the car and have prepared the passanger side and started to do the roof. There was less rust than we thought. Only below the windshied and the lower panel behind the front wheel. We want the body to be straight and due to door dings, etc. we needed to patch areas. Finally, we are going to take out the 4 front seams on the top of the front where the hood lies and the two rear seams where the rear lights go down to the bumper. The rest of the seams will be hidden behind the zender kit. We think this will be the cleanest look since we are standing to metal. Alittle extra work but we hope the final result will be worth it. I am posting some pictures of the progress and hope to have the Alfa body ready to paint in another week. We are ordering a small sand blasting machine to do the engine compartment since we feel this should give us the best result. Depending on how fast we get this additional equipment will detemine when we can start the actual painting. I am still not sure how we are going to approach the under carriage but my associate feels this will be no problem once we get the new lift in.

fyi... i just had my car media blasted on the interior and exterior, and sand blasted (with black beauty) on the under carraige for less than 300$ in pa. the paint shop was tickled pink to see a freshly stripped and primed car and so was i! like the idea of smoothing the body seems; sounds classy.

Restore Project
Hi Rz,
Nice seats, After carefully thinking this through I have decided to restore my cars interior factory stock. We feel that this would be the best way to do my first project. I have looked at alot of Alfa's that have been restored and even though I like the updated seats, etc. the originals look clean.
I was not able to work on the car this weekend since I have a client that has hired us to complete a contract that requires 4-5 hours each Saturday. I hope to work on it sometime this week after work if I can manage this. I do not want to rush my project but I know from prior experience that procrastination is a killer to my Alfa Project. I noticed that I need a new speedo & tach. Anyone have an excellent conditioned used one. All other gauges work.

Body Work
Hello Everyone,
Went to the warehouse today to check the status of my Alfa. Things are right on target. The car is primed and ready to be painted next week. I am not going to go with the Alfa Red or Ferrair Red but a Custom Metallic Red that is not as bright. We think this will give the car a classy look and be more subdued. We took the seams off so the car is totally smooth. We welded and sanded rather than use filler.
We have decided to do the interior in black leather with red stiching. I liked the tan idea but we feel that black will wear better since I have decided to restore to Custom Street/ Maybe some track use car rather than just Show only.
The most exciting thing is that I have bought an engine from Jungle Justice. He is going to hook me up with a 3.0L 24V glenwood engine that has been sourced from a 94 164LS.
The engine is basically new and he is going to set it up with some of the extras to get about 270-290 at the crank. I have emailed and spoken to him over the phone and I am confident that we made the right decision. He is starting work on the engine and he has been so kind to me on my set up. I am now very confident that we can accomplish the swap with his expertise.
I am posting some progress pictures of the body work that was done. The closer I get to the finishing of my Alfa Project the more excited I am getting. I really appreciate all the help of the BB to educate me with my hobby. I know when I have restored this Alfa I will know the car very well.
Thanks for looking at my project.

Alfa GTV6 Restore
Hello Everyone,
Hope we all had a good weekend. Did not have time to work on my Alfa except for deciding how I was going to restore it. I did buy the 3.0L 24V engine from Jungle Justice on a impulse. After all, I was really going to restore my whole car showroom stock for original condition. As you can see I am old school and my associate has restored most of his cars stock. I was starting to get cold feet when I thought that I was off path. However, after driving much more powerful cars I thought why cann't my Alfa perform like that??
Then I thought, ok, I need to buy new parts anyway so why not buy the custom stuff. The cost is around the same but the performance parts seem to have more advantage. My associate said if I change the engine the car will definately not be original and no one will want it if I decide to sell it. Of course, I don't want to sell it but he did have a point. So my solution is to set up a display with the old engine ready to go back in. The engine will be in perfect condition so I will have the original engine with matching #'s just in case. Since it is a hobby, I do the work myself so it just time spent playing. OK, then he said, once you put the 3.0L 24V in your car you will make your car frame not original. The modification will change the motor mounts, etc. This was the hard part since I knew when we swapped the 340 to a 426 Hemi we need to make new motor mounts, header, etc and this was welded. Therefore, very very hard to change back to original.
However, the 3.0L 24V engine fits perfectly into the GTV6 without any welding, etc. The main modifications are to the engine which is not the original engine anyway. So I am Ok. My goal is to still restore my Alfa to original condition as possible but have it perform better. For me, my Alfa is a great car and I am just wanting to improve the performance while keeping the charactor of the car. Therefore, I think that this change will be a great improvement to my Alfa and still keep it original. If I want to change it back to stock original I can. I really don't see why I would do that. But I am going to cover all my bases just in case.
My engine in being prepared as well speak and I cann't wait to see it. In the meantime,I would post a picture of the engine but the computer is stating that the attachment is too large.
Have a great day everyone

Restore GTV6
Hello everyone,
I was able to figure out how the resize the my 1st engine photo. This is a picture of the engine in the 164 LS before it was removed. The engine should be done in 2 -3 weeks and I will post the pictures when I get them. I did not work on the car this weekend and I was hoping to go to the warehouse today but I will not have time
We have put the zender kit back on and are molding it to fit onto the body. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them. Maybe tomorrow if I can catch up at work.
Peace.
