Greetings from Switzerland

Post by Billy »

Hello and happy new year to all of you.
Time has come to introduce my car (and myself) to this great forum.
My name is Billy and I live in Switzerland.
In the early 90's, I was the proud owner of a beautiful grey GTV6 which got distroyed in a stupid accident. Sad story isn't it ?
But, because this car left so many good souvenirs in my mind, I bought a used one in 2000. It took me five years to entirely rebuild it and the attached pictures will give you the opportunity to see the result of what we call "Passion"
I hope you'll enjoy it !

Greetings Billy, and welcome aboard! :D

One small question: I notice in your center console near the brake lever you have two switches. I assume they are for the power mirrors, but why two? In the US there is only one switch with a ring around it to toggle between the left and right mirrors.

I ask because my toggle is broken. Could you have installed two switches to overcome this common problem?

To Maldi and all the other ones

Post by Billy »

Hello Maldi,
Nice to read from you and it is with pleasure that I will answer your question.
You're right, the two switches are effectively there to drive the external powered mirrors.
In 1984, the Swiss GTV6 were delivered (as standard) with left hand side powered mirror and "single" switch only. I gess the right hand side one was proposed as an option and that makes the "double" switch hard to find (at least in Switzerland).
Because I have installed the missing mirror on my car, I simply add an other "single" switch to drive it.
This modification can also be done on your car if you want it but, careful, it isn't an easy thing to do as the cut in the central console has to be realy precise and an extra piece on which the two switches will be fixed need to be made accurately. There's not a lot of space in between the switches.
Anyway, I'll try to send you a picture of this modification next week.

I hope this will satisfy your interest for it.

To all the other ones,
thanks a lot for your nice comment that makes me believe that we all share the same passion !

Sorry for my poor english but if the entire world could speak French, it would certainly makes my life easyer.
