No "40-Year Old Alfa Virgin" here!
Hello, all!
Bought my first Alfa in January (1985 GTV6) ... and after a few minor mishaps, she is not only home safe and sound but she and I are touring town almost every day!
If you'd like to read the full saga, I have an extended 'blog entry here:
http://www.thewantedplanet.net/wp-trackback.php?p=55
I'm finally getting my hands dirty with my car for the first time since about 1988, and I am really enjoying it.
Driving is fun again!
Feel free to contact me for Alfa networking ...
Location: Dayton, OH - USA (actually Springboro ...)

Alfa's for Ohio ...
Mericet (Neil) - another Ohio Alfisti ... w00t!
We should definitely trade some stories ... how about we meet for a pint? I think Springfield is about halfway between Springboro and Mt. Gilead ... imagine - TWO '85 GTV6's at the same pub!

eBay rocks!
HEY x-rad:
Yes, this is an eBay vehicle ... although sometimes I hesitate to tell people because of the funny looks I get ... actually the second eBay vehicle I've purchased in the last year, and both experiences have been just fine.
A lot of people don't realize that for cars, eBay is totally a wholesale market, and for *most* cars (if they aren't highly sought-after) you will pay about the same as you would pay at auction ... but typically you will get a better vehicle ... at least one that you know a bit more about! lol
I brought it home from a Salvation Army auto auction just north of Chicago, where someone had DONATED it (probably for the tax write-off) ... go figure! (The auction up there was experimenting with listing some of their vehicles on eBay instead of the standard weekly auction.)
She has a nice, warm garage to live in here in Dayton ... and she is getting plenty of exercise!

Might have named it Swordfish 3 ...
Hey, Mezevenf -
I might have named it the "Swordfish 3" if it were one of the red ones ... lol ... (nice to run into folks who know Bebop).
No, I thought briefly about naming it the "Falcon" - because when I got it home I kept replaying Han Solo's line in my head - "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid." ...
But then I figured it needed to be an Italian name .. a ladies name ...
I've been obsessed with GT's ... so we decided on a "G" name ...
(plus, the wife loves Giada deLaurentiis' cooking show ...)
So she is "Giada".

Re: Alfa's for Ohio ...
Hmm, yes we could do that some time (when mine is on the road again). I am also in Columbus very often.Spike Spiegel wrote:Mericet (Neil) - another Ohio Alfisti ... w00t!

Spike,
I'm in Detroit , as soon as I'm running again, there could be three GTV6's at that pub!!!. Glad you saved her from the ebay chop shop, or worse, the recycler!
I found mine on the net and get most of my parts from ebay. I'm the jerk who bids in the last few seconds...although I have had some stiff competiton lately with electronic parts!
Cheers,
X

Hmm, that should be interesting. Two white and one black GTV6. I can almost smell the photo op. AS long as there is no close ups. Mine is no beauty queen.x-rad wrote:Spike,
