I looked at that page, and I see the difference, it's quite dramatic. By the way, that's a very good book.

Thanks Greg! You should see the way the V6 one is coming along! Btw, I'm installing your 2m injectors today..you know why? I went to dyno for mapping with the big-bore headers and it wouldn't go past 6700 in 3rd; no fuel, plugs and ground electrodes were white! Even according to calculations, the std Motronic injectors can barely feed 215hp. Very encouraging! Will set a mapping date again. If the simulator is correct (has been so far) I can expect ~8hp more than the CSC, around 225 total; not bad at all for std cams! Will update.

Jim, how much lighter is the Motronic starter?

Does that mean the 164 starter is different again?
So there's the L-jet starter, the SZ/QV starter, and a 164 starter? Is that right?
BMW's are the ultimate driving machine!

I'm kidding -- please don't ban me.

Yes there are 3 different kinds (maybe 4 if the 164 also had a lump earlier on). Gtv6/75 V6/SZ have 2-hole flange, 164 has 3 holes. Barry's trick adapts the 3-hole part to 2-hole use.
New starter (75 V6 Motronic, SZ):3.5kg.
Old starter: 6.5kg

Baz,

Can the 164 starter mod be done while engine is in the car if you ship me one of those plates? I have a spare 164 starter. If not I'm giving Vince Bachu a call. :D
