that badge isnt faded, all that has been done is the green rubbed off of the back, and resprayed with light blue. Its very easy to do. If it was faded there would be evidence of that in th gold brading. I'll do mine as soon as I can find it!

:D It wasnt me! though coincidentally, Im just in the process of looking to buy a 156 2.5 24v, they are cheap cheap cheap, here in the uk. I found an alfa badge yesterday, its one of the new ones though, and you cant do much with them, because they are painted from the front not the back. You can only do it with the old small badges, like on my 83 gtv6, which are filled in from the back

Yeah the 156's are a very good car, my dad has had one for ages now, and not one little thing has ever gone wrong with it. 8)

I had those badges before. The red would fade before the gold. On the Alfa Digest they had this discussion and it turned out to be very long winded and some people were convinced that it was a special edition badge. After that episode I quit the digest.

Haha no shit, that is faded alright.

Thats my comment.

No questions, but my addition is this, i think you could be right with the fading, must have been a certain number of badges made that faded like this!!

Even though i have come to the final and sad conclusion that my rear badge is faded, i still love it! :D If i miss the red of the milanese cross, then i just have to walk to front of car, and problem solved!

Now for a thread blaster, who has the worst, most badly faded ALFA badge out there...?

Now we dont need a digest to drag this out! :P

Zamani, i agree, there is no way its a special edition badge.

Nicholas wrote:Yeah I wanted to believe it was some rare anomalie too, but its not, it's 22 years old and Alfa Romeo aren't renowned for consistent quality.
The one on my hatch is really good and has all its colour. The light blue is the base colour all the others are layed over the top of this.

my 2 cents... and yes you can tell me it ain't worth 2 cents if you like. lol
The badges on my California '85 are the same, faded in front and full color on the hatch. A bad batch maybe?

Yes Don a bad batch for sure i think, but someone said there are badges where they have been painted, so would be nice to see one of them, but yeah, to finish this thread off, they are faded and must come from a bad batch.....maybe alfa saving money with cheaply mass produced badges to adorn the last of the real alfas's before Fiat took over...? :?

That is about what my rear badge looked like after being most of it's life in the bright sunshine of Florida.
