I think they are Schmidt but they do look similar to theApilatte GTV compos

I have loaded up this GTV 2.5 to bring to the UK . It’s such good car and far more “ relaxed “ and economical to drive for work in the UK than the carb GTV . Having said that I prefer not to take carb GTV 3.0 to work.
Some pics of the car at dry docks before it goes off to Felixstowe. I always drive the car into the container and check the tying down but these guys are doing it really well over last few years so did not have to stay until end of packaging. You do hear of nightmare stories of cars coming loose .
British International Removals are the company I use and have now down four GTV6’s for me. If anyone is looking for the contact person there they can PM me or speak to Ben direct

I have my old favourite patina'd (or is it patinae ?) wall near my car storage where I like to take pictures of my cars for the insurance updates. I have finally got the three together but no sooner had I done this I had to sell the 2.5. Maybe one day I can buy it back.
Here the three which include 3.7 24v, 3.0 12v and the 2.5 12v .
Each car is unique to the other and very different driving experiences !

To true , even though I wanted to keep the carb car at factory spec I might drop it 15mm in the nose . I know it's not much but roads are not great where I am . I even bent the strut brace bar on the Mito a few weaks near my place . However the race car is much lower but it just that every one is used to seen 17" wheels on these with a 620mm overall diameter. These are the original 15" and with tyres it's 585mm . That's a big difference with out even lowering the car.
Can see the race car next to carb carbi and that's 50 mm difference on same tyre circumference with just drop in suspension.
So 10 splines on the torsion bars it will be ! Thanks you just given me another summer job

We have just entered into lockdown again so I doubt anymore outings this year. I have grouped together some pics from the last few months. The highlight has definitely been been doing a few tarckdays with a relatively standard twins park 75. The car has been prepared by Wayne from EMC and all I had to do is make and apply some stickers
The stickers were made in SA with all the UV resiIstant layers so I doubt it will fade here. The 75 just needs bigger brakes at this stage !
We were lucky to have an Alfa Club day at Stoneley House . Sad how the other half live but atleast we could put our cars on the lawns. Some good 75 pics including Steves wide body IMSA style.

With the limited time and travel restrictions in lockdown I have atleast managed to carry out quite a lot of maintenance work on the 3.0 SA carbi GTV. A couple of years ago I restored the entire front end with new bushes and Powdercoating parts before I drove the car to Zandvoort for the Spettacolo.
This car has been totally untouched underneath with no spanner ring marks on any nuts and bolts, however I have made a decision upon stripping each component to have all these nuts and bolts plated back to new factory colour. If this car was still in SA I would not have bothered but I can’t risk any corrosion on these parts now that the car is in a the UK. Having said that it never goes out when their is salt on the roads
The replacement fuel lines was first on the list from the tank to the engine bay . With the changes in fuel it was critical to make sure the fuel hose was compliant with the new regulations. Nothing worse than having a fire in a classic car then your insurance turning around saying they won’t pay as your fuel lines don’t meet current ethanol protection standards blah blah ..
I had some stainless tubing bent but as no new pipe can handle that 180 degree bend without collapsing and this occurs mainly on hot days under the car . ( common problem I had in numerous cars in SA).

Next up was the rear calipers . This I had no choice as I had a leak in the left one and thought either I service one and then wait for the other to leak OR just replace both with new calipers. My old calipers were still in lovely shape with zero corrosion so I found them a new home with someone who was prepared to service them properly. I took the lazy route and waited for my delivery from John at Highwood to send me a pair . All of two days waiting

I’m still amazed how clean the gearbox still is after all this time and it’s never been out. Synchros are all still perfect. I did replace the clutch and slave back in 2013 so I have covered that area.

Normally this time of the year I head back to SA but as this was not possible I had some of my old race parts shipped over to me . Also some nice laser cut toys . If anyone is looking for coupling cages I have three left . You only need one to go on the front coupling as I have found that takes the most pain . My 3.7 race car ran with this for years on standard prop and never broke a thing. This old race is still running in SA with a 3.0 motor in 12 years later and no issues. .PM me if you want one sadly they are £100 each ( ouch !) but it’s literally 3hrs machining time (and you know what machine shops hourly rates are !) to the tube section as their is no pipe around that close to that diameter and of course you need the flat lip on it .

Last up on the rear end was the watts linkage . As you cannot get the original bushes which I prefer, I had no choice but to use the aftermarket poly bushes . They are really good but nothing wrong with the shor hardness of the OEM part. One these were stripped out it can be seen I wasted my time as all the bushes were still perfect but atleast this gave me an excuse to tick off the returb items . The centre dedion bushes is still totally solid so not touching that !
No luxury of a hoist, just move the car to edge of slope outside the garage door and hopefully it does not rain.

It is a red a vinyl tape which was UV protected. I don’t think it looks good when the bumpers are like bananas but it’s an 80s thing and original part to the GTV3.0 so I keep it. Even had part number on packet along with red sticker on the chrome heart.
