Completed my GTV race car project in April 2012, will be posting pics as soon as I get the hang of doing so (bear with me).

It's an original SA 3.0l car, with a wide body kit and some serious tyres on. Engine is a 12 valve 2.5l fuel injected motor with 3.0l sleeves and pistons, making it a 2.8l. It has twin Mitsubish T4 turbos, boosting at about 0.6bar. The engine is driven by the PowerMods ECU and the motor is very smooth and has massive low end torque with max power coming in at 5500 rpm. Fitted a front mounted gearbox and outboard rear brakes.

I've started a second project, which will be a street legal / track day car. It's a GTV 2.5l, body rust was too far gone to restore it to original. Work done so far, installed the entire drive train (engine, prop, gearbox) car is driveable, brakes are shocking, needs to be either bled properly or redone. The roll cage is in and coated. Fitted standard driver seat and seat belt, will need to upgrade before doing track days.

It's pretty awesome when things start coming together :D ......took damn long enough...it was such a pleasure racing her, no stressing and the handling in the corners was like a dream. At one stage there were 3 cars going into the hairpin, I took the inside  and there we were 4 cars coming out the hair pin, Gerrt on the outside me on the inside and 2 juniors fighting it out in the middle.

Atleast I'm smart enough to recognise when you beat . Hey , just found a disc of the full article on your car when it was a road car and held the fastest street car title in SA back in early 90's.
What a history your car has , pity about the current driver . :wall: :D :D

Race Car as it looked when it was finished, before we started adding the race stickers and numbers.

Kevin, lets add those pics of the car, during it's hay day as one of South Africa's fastes street cars.

I found the magazine article on your car before it was made into a wide body . Interesting to see that the initial engine was a 3.4 12v with TT clocking 275km/h then was upgraded to a 3.2 24v TT with 365kw and clocking 260 km/h over standing 1km . This car won the " fastest street " title for three years . This consisted of 1) drag race over1/4 mile , 800m top speed run and and timed lap at Midvaal circuit . I do remember been their when it beat the that monstrous Porsche turbo on overall honours at Midvaal even though Porsche was faster on the 800 m category . This actually does show that the front mount gearbox modification did not take away to much of the great handling characteristics of the transaxle by beating that track bread Porsche on the time lap . Oh yes Doc Stuart was a great driver , just sad he is unable to participate with his Ultima again . I have also found a pic of the Ultima where the engine from your now nestles .
Trying to scan these at the moment .

Kevin, thanks a mil for digging the history up :D . To think that 20 years ago the powerplant in this car was pushing out more than double the power than today  .

I'm glad, in fact I'm privileged to have the honour to have looked after her for the past 15 or so years  .

I recall being at the midvaal track during one of the events and seeing Stuart in action. I was in awe, never dreaming of, or the thought ever crossing my mind that one day I would have the pleasure of taking care of the car..............the only thing missing now is that magical, phenomonal powerplant........ 8)

Who knows . .........one day she might return to her original color :wall: .........

I think he knows but probably just yanking your chain :D . That f355 did not even come remotely close to that Alfa Ultima even with that top driving doing test laps .
If you look real close the silver Giulietta on the left is the one I was referring to in the other thread that the wheel/rim departed from its hub due to fatigue . And again under closer inspection is the same 147 gta that's just arrived for bodywork restoration in the thread by Barry . I think that pic of taken in 2005

Sorry, couldn't see past that beautiful Ultima...

The 355 with yellow chequered pattern just doesn't attract as much attention from me as the twin turboed Alfa v6 powered Ultima(te).
