"Dual mass flywheel"

Cool project, go for it!

I took part in a Sachs seminar here in Athens a few months ago and the man said 2-mass flywheels are NOT suitable for competition purposes. Sachs themselves recommend they are replaced with normal stuff. Its inconceivable to have ±60* movement of the masses in a race engine!

What type of thrust bearing are you going to use . I have also just remade my flywheel using the E34 M5 unit which I will post pics in my thread . Also was using dual mass as template for my hold centres .
Your Project is coming on nicely .

Thanks :) I use the bearing of 330d, we think it's enough..

But I've a problem with the differential... it's very much short.. I try to search the 12/46 of alfa 6 td, but it's impossibile to find.. I hope I can find someone who make it without the original champion...

This is info from the Alfa Sei 6 factory book regarding ratios that the car came with :

2.5 manual carb came with a 11:50 (4.54:1) and the injection manual came with a 11 :47 .( 4.27:1 )
And the automatic a 13/47 ( 3.61:1)

I do have a spare 13/47 but its also short with the 5 speed box with 1:1 fifth in my car . Its excellent for hill climbs , twisty circuits and high revving motors but I would also like to cruise on roads to the circuits without sitting at. 3600rpm doing 70mph . Their is a company here in Uk that does cut hypoid crown and pinion but they need the dimensions for a quote . I have not done this yet as been short of time . Send me a pm and I can put you onto the guys if you have a Sei diff that's opened to measure up .
I was hoping to get a 13:42 made .
What size wheels are you going to use as I unfortunately still using 15" ( 225/50/15)

Drop all thoughts of an Alfa diff. Use a BMW unit. There are several to chose from and they won't break.
You need a custom driveshaft and halfshafts but you will need that anyway.

The BMW diff does give you the most options and they are cheap . You just need to make a cage around it and move your brakes outboard . I do regret not doing it earlier . I have pics of it done in a few GTVs that race in SA . Its also 17kg lighter ,

I have a 3.61 and 2x 4.27 in my shed. Heavy stuff..

Always planned using the long one with an overdrive box but decided to go the bmw route.

I try to answer to all in this post.

there is two reason we decided to use this differential:
the first, my mechanich made (not finish yet) his gtv6 3.0 biturbos with 6 gearbox and 6 diff. he bought a couple of diff, one 11.50 (sell to me) and one automatic use on his gtv. I pay it not much..
the second, in this diff there is a big lsd, and if I wanna use bmw diff I must search a M differential or the diesel have lsd? anyway the hypoid crown for this car are expensive...

For the tyre, I unknown the size, for the street (but I use rarely) 205/45 16, for track if stay in evo fender 17 205/40 or similar...

I buy one of your 13/47 if you sell

Ah, I forgot.. We have external brake, in this mode we put in centre the diff..

Very very thanks to all for the help :):)
