Hi my name is Lucas and I´m 24. I live in Argentina and I own a 84 euro GTV6.
I think the Brera has a beautifull front, but ugly side and back. Allaround I dont like it. Is ugly like all new sportcars. If I had the money to buy another sportcar I would buy a 365 GTB/4, Miura, Testarossa, Countach, 308 GTS or 69 Corvette. And modifie it for better performance.
Did anybody noticed that the 599 GTB looks like a 95 Supra. How can they replace the beautifull 550/575 Maranello with this ugly car. And how did they managed to transform a beautifull car like the 360 Modena into an ugly car, the F430.
Modern cars designers are doing it all wrong.
And what can I say about Alfa. What Fiat did and is doing to Alfa is worst than making it disapear. It took away from alfa what made Alfa great for decades, RWD, well balanced chasis, high power motors and styling. Now I have to see a 230hp Mazda RX8 beating a 260hp Alfa GT in a track in a 5th gear comparison test. And why the underpowered RX8 is faster, because its RWD and better balanced than the Alfa. How can this happen? In the 80s the GTV6 kicked butt in his category. In some circuits in the ETCC it was even faster than higher category cars. This cars are killing a reputation Alfa gained for decades since the times of world war II. 10 years from know sportcars buyers wil be guys that were born in the late 80s and early 90s and they will buy BMWs, Audis, Hondas, Mazdas, Fords, Nissans before buying an Alfa. The only people that buys new Alfas is because they remember what Alfa once was. This generation wil be the Shumager lovers and they wont ever know that the greatest F1 driver of all time is and always will be Juan Manuel Fangio. So sad.

Hey Lucas, remember that when passion ruled the design and build of Alfa`s previously, they lost BIG money on everyone of them..
These days its the bean counters who dictate things ...and regulations from governments etc...
Do you know the red Giulietta on the Cuore Sportivo.ch web page??
Wait,thats Chile....not Argentina..sorry...
Its like South Africa and Nigeria....9000km apart but people think its the same country...

Thats right MD. The mistake Fiat did with Alfa was to forget what made people buy Alfas. Fiat managment had a product in their hands that was losing in sales against its competition. The right thing to do by any inteligent managment department in any type of bussiness is to analize why people buy your product and why people not. They needed to know the heritage of the marque they were starting to sell and respect it. To improve their product to improve Alfas sales they should have keeped RWD, 50/50 weight distribution and the design because it was the only thing that made their product better than the competition. And in the other hand they should have focused in improving the quality, strenth and making a more reliable product, because that was the main reason they were losing against the competition. Alfa didnt have the money in the early 80s to make this improvements. Fiat was and is very powerfull, they had the money to make Alfa great again, instead they made cars using alfa`s name like the 155 that was a Fiat Tempra or Tipo. For example take a look at what Lotus is doing. They focused in what they do best, keeping their marque`s heritage and that is making lightweight sportcars, not SUVs, sedans, economycars, etc. . Ofcourse they need some big corporation to put the money but they are still in bussiness and making great cars. Alfa has the economical support of a big corporation that is Fiat, but they lack good managment, thats all. Just imagine how great could have been a GTV6 early 90s replacement with RWD, 50/50 weight distribution and the 24v 3.0 230hp of the 164 Q4. In that times the BMW 325i had 190hp, 40hp less than alfas V6. A sportcar using the SZ platform and the 24v 230hp motor would have kicked ass in the early 90s, to bad they never made it.

Spot - on mate.
The only thing I would add would be a an option on the range to go rear 2 wheel drive or all wheel drive so a customer could chose the performance level they want.
In terms of product improvement, redesign the driveshaft to the transaxle and the gear selection ,upgrade the brakes to match and the car would be an absolute blast.

And if its remotely similar to the initial design drawings it will look the part too!Mats wrote:The car that will replace the 166 is supposedly RWD... I hear V8 too.
Looks mean, will sound mean and will hopefully drive like a real alfa!
We will get one (eventually 2nd hand) to replace the 166 if its a decent price
