105 series Giulia Sprint GT/ GTV Roll cage design.

Post by kevin »

Can anyone point me to a site where I can find roll cage designs for the 105 series GTV for full track use or pics of good ones. Maybe I should just ask Ben or Mats to quickly sketch one(pushing my luck).
Thanks
Kevin

Thats a pretty nice setup, although I'd triangulate the main hoop differently.

This is the one Alfaholics sell, but I'm not happy with the door bars not continuing through. Instead of the tubes running between the main hoop feet and rear feet I'd run them up to the door bars to get a load path to the rear feet.

Thanks guys, this is a good start. Trying to find more details where the 'A' pillar section goes through into the engine bay to join shock towers and castor arm. Trying to make a proper cage this time unlike the cosmetic one in my 'budget ' race car which I will be redoing for next season. I am keeping this in " other' as it does not belong anywhere else.
Cheers

I disagree Kev, its an Alfa, and its a race car!
Here's the thread on the BB for what I initially thought was the silver car Giuliettaevo2 posted, but its not.

i think my pictures are quite old... yours are from a Dutch one as well. That actually is the best looking car in our Alfa competition, some even say it's too pretty to race...

One of the best cage-builders over here( has build many racing-alfa cages) helped with that cage so it probably is a very good design.

Yeah, I think its far too pretty... These days I worry that if I repaint my GTV and make it pretty I'll be too scared to drive it hard...

This is great, thanks. Kept it in other as it was not a 116 but maybe it can be transferred there. Ben, just paint the insides of the car if youre so at least its clean when you work on it and leave the outside so can drive it like hell.

hey kevin
took me long enough...
thanks this is a great help, I have a few ideas for my cage from what I've seen now.
Proper preparation prevents piss-poor performance!
