Great 'Ring trip!

Post by Jim K »

Just got back from yet another great Ring trip! This was the busiest I've ever seen it, since the weather was all sunshine for more than a week and still is. As a result, half of Europe's car nuts were there. The qeues leading to the Grunne Halle entrance were about 1km both ways all day long!! Unbelieveble! The track closed down about 4 times due to accidents and the tow trucks were damn busy removing over-eager cars from the track. In the efternoon, a Scoobie hit a biker and they threw the bikes out for the remainder of the day (GOOD  ) so we could put in a few really good laps. I managed to drive about 9 total, I had hoped for more than 12 laps but closures didn't allow it.
Good part of the trip was meeting Maurizio and sharing some car BS as usual. On Saturday , he also helped me replace in Ron's shop the exhaust on the car I was going to drive, I definitely owe him a schnitzel (local currency  )
Well, its over now and I'm already thinking...how about early October??
Thanks for one more great time Ron!

I'm glad it all went great!! Sadly I couldn't participate this time as i'm in the middle of transition course to fly a 767...so couldn't make a little escapade to the old continent.
In October I should be ok, plus flying to Madrid wich will make things easier as far as getting to the ring! :D

The tech BS is always great fun.
Normally I would avoid the ring with such weather etc.
I actually went early to the track and 7.50h there already was a queue at the gate, supposed to open at 8h. I kind of had enough of it later that day with the closers + I had a phone from home that there was a barbecue planned....
