exhaust system gtv 2.0

Post by franksun »

Hi lawds!

I am about to put in a new exhaust system on my 2.0.
I wonder if anyone here have any tips on how to make it?
I am thinking about a 2,5" simons system with two silencers from the same manufacter. Any tips?

Regards Norway :)

I think 2.5 inch is too big, go for 50 mm or 57 maximum with a modified engine.

A few suggestions.
1 Move your subject to the "Performance" section for further discussion. (We should have a topic set just for exhaust I beleive but we dont for now.)

2 See this link for my headers.http://alfagtv6.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t= ... 7e469519b1

3 Use Jacques advice for pipe sizes after the headers for a street car which is what I assume you are are asking about.

My race car had a 2.5 system with two silencers (one of them a beat up Simons short) and that exhaust was very heavy, badly packed in the car (4 90* short radius bends after the gearbox) and too silent (complaints from spectators :) ).

Redid it this spring with a single silencer and 2" pipes, and a catalyst. Haven't tested it yet but it is lighter, nicer packed and louder. :)
Can you believe I'm forced to put a catalyst om my -77 carburator car which 90% of the pime is run at WOT? If I don't do it I can't race, but the thing is I actually don't need it to be street legal, I might actually have made it illegal for street use by mounting a catalyst (Changing the emission system)! :x

Hi there RZ
I will gladly introduce myself. My name is obviously Jacques. I am from Pretoria in South-Africa. My Alfas are a Giulietta 2L 1985 model (with some mods, group one stuff), 1973 Giulia Super 1300 and 1996 155 Super.
I just love the transaxle Alfas - the GTV6 must be most the beautiful thing on four wheels! Had an Alfetta GT a few years ago. Must have a GTV6 one day though.
Also friends with Fernando en Kevin here.
Regards
