no elec. pump? the way I see it a OEM WP is hardly optimized for the 4000+ range. ;)
Cavitation and too high flow is not an option in a 24H race with a highly tuned engine. Cheap Hp I reckon.

Then again it falls outside KISS as the OEM WP is a functional and proven solution...

I dunno about the donuts. They are OK with 190 hp and 8200 rpm so far. Double the power and we might end up braking them.
What about adjusting the driveshaft to accept ehhhum bmw M5 donuts, they handle that kind of power ok.

Hey guys, what is all this? Maybe we're all getting...just a tad carried away here, are we not??
If we want to drool at how purpose-made 75's are built, we can all have a look at the way the Dutch Challenge guys build their cars (like Maurizio's shots). Other than that, how the hell are 5 or 10 internationally located-separated nuts going to build ONE car? It would be way more practical (and probably...more feasible!) to...steal someones racecar and register it in Nepal (remember?)
Damn, you got me going for a while there! I'll wait until I win the Lottery to spend a few kilobucks on this project.
Of course valve springs will have to be replaced as well as valves (DelWest titanium) and mech.followers used, but we usually don't mention the small stuff. If budget permits, headers can be in Ti, to save weight (like the Autodelta 2liter gtv's) :)
The entire modified rear axle is also available at:http://www.bianchi-kopp.de/BK-041001/bk ... 41001.html

Titanium headers? Is there an alloy that won't turn to dust over 500 degrees celsius?
Surely Inconel will do fine, no need to over-do it... ;)

I have half the headers from an Autodelta gtv 2,0 (cyls 1-4) and sure enough they're Ti. Want a laugh? 812gr weight! The Dallara F3 TS engine I was working on also had them.
It would sure be nice to build for real the dream engine we talked about. :!: It was good while it lasted, lets say....it broke on the dyno!!! Right, and it didn't cost us nothin' either, hahah!!

I believe I owe Zamani an explanation about ITB's and engine power. I'll post in the 'engine' thread.

Toyota f1 (TTE Koln), uses inconel, one header about 100 hours hand work and will only last 800 ~ 1000 Km.
Anyone ever worked with inconel?

Remember this is all about dreaming and getting away from brute reality for a while.

How far to get carried away is up to anyones personal preferences.

Personally I have to say that building the car for the project I could still handle. If someone makes the practical team arrangements and pays for the costs on site (entry fee, box, team, gas, etc) I'll bring the car. Some minor help would be appreciated though.

PS! Solved the cavitation on my 2.0 water pump with a new 30% smaller front pulley.

That is a nice idea... gotta steal that one. :D

So, Micke, I heard it's a bitch to import cars to Finland....
I'll take it off your hands if you like, I will need my comission though. :D

Maybe we should start with a VLN car?

Starting with anything but VLN is totally absurd.
When Popel won the 24h 2003 they practised one year the entire VLN to do it. And I don't mean like racing. They came in and out from the pits to try things. Wasted one season but it paid off.

BMW tried 2003 to enter "off the shelf". Both cars failed within couple of laps. They meanwhile learned their lesson and got two double-wins since.

The problem with the ring is that there's not much time for testing outside the races. Actually close to zero.

Needs to be road registered then, that can actually be done here in sweden with a bit of knowledge and contacts... ;)
Difficult to do tourist laps with slicks though.

Morin Racing 8th over all have never driven on the NS before (at least in that car). That is pretty strong. They have good knowledge of endurance racing though as thay have participated in the Swedish Long distance Cup (SLC) for some years.

VLN has the same rules as the 24H? pity to have to remake tha car to the 24... Or as you said, drive a season in the VLN just for testing.

Testing in tourist traffic is both crazy and not allowed. Car needs road registration (no temporary plates) and of course no slicks.

VLn also uses the class "24 hours special". This makes the car eligible in both races without changes.

Morin proved what is generally known. A GT3 is fast enough with good drivers and without problems.

I don't know where else to post this, as there's no thread about the 'Ring! Well, it was great to be there again and see Ron, Jaco, Maurizio and the beautiful 21km course! Saturday's rain weather decided to disappear and Sunday allowed the countless fans to immensely enjoy the course! Not much else I can say, I was very sad to have to leave! I managed to squeeze in 8 laps, before the track was shut down because someone went off, crashed and spewed oil, so I shouldn't complain. I'm now already thinking for next time, maybe late September/early October. I wonder when a bunch of site members can meet there and play!!
While there, I had a chance to see Ron's new brake kit, adapting the 305mm GTA discs to gtv6's and 75's, using the stock calipers, modified with the spacers supplied. I also got me the complete Watt linkage mod kit :D (2 rods with unibals and the middle crank with bearings instead of bushings).

:D pleasure was mine. So you guy's actually got some nice wheather after all. The rain was getting less the more I got near home on my way back. The whole saturday no rain (according my girlfreind) at all and that only 150km away from the ring.

Next time my car is ready  The slow lap on saturday evening did me realise again what I'm missing out on.......

Ps Jim use old castorrod bushings to keep the watt-linkage bearings (at the outside) from hitting the chassis. Ads some comfort :)

At least you have a plan and the certainty you will be enjoying your car in the Ring, as you are only 150km away! I am trying to calculate the total cost of taking my car to the Ring from Greece for a few days and it always comes up a lot! I'm talking about the (now) 1,8T which will get the 3liter being built and which has all the other good mods (310mm, Red Brembos, cage, polyurethane). We're trying to figure a total cost for a Ring trip for 3 guys driving the same car. It still comes out a lot! We'll see. Take care! :)
