Hi Barry,
Sorry but have an OT question to ask. I remember reading
a post on an engine that you had built which was coated
with thermal barrier on the pistons & combustion chambers.
You mentioned that it cause detonation & was only resolved
after changing the heads to stock non coated once. Did you
ever found out why was it detonating ? What are you views
on coating engine parts & lastly where the parts coated by
Powerkote ?

Yes,I suspect the heat retension inside the combustion chamber was far to high for the fuel used..It detonated like a pig....Changed to non coated heads,all fine..It was definatly heat related...

Thanks for the reply. Hmm strange, seem to work well by
many using it in the US. You think it could be cam, fuel, head design
related ? Is it a 24v engine ?

No,this was a 12v. Many years ago..I suspect it could have been our fuel quality..we were a bad nation of buggers then and I think we got second hand recycled fuel from ol Saddam..Today we do have 95 ron unleaded though...and rece gas..with lead..

What are your results so far??before and after testing??

Hi Barry,
Sorry no results as engine is still in pieces.
Having seen some good results with pistons
& bearing coatings, I thought about doing
the combustion chambers as well.

yeah man, that maser is awesome ! the white version is sweet inside and out. Man, that is one car that needs nothing done to it. Toying with it will probably spoil it. Maybe a sweet modern sound system and i'll take 2 thanks !! :D

Yeah awsome car! I like the body, not too pretentious and dosen't illude to the performance that lies beneth! Plus you sit in it and its probably the best/luxury interior out there.
I think the flared wheel arch guards have some similarity to the 75/Milano body kit JJ was working on, the way the guard is flared to an 'edge' then back to 'flat' door really makes those guards stand out!
I like it, easiest to see on the maroon/red maser

Just an update here...Finally got one of two cam belts I ordered from Germany...only took about 6weeks.. :D
Motor is now ready to drop in and am busy with that..While I had it,I sold it!!
The owner got an offer to work in the U.K.and took it..needed to sell the car,so I did! To a mate of mine...she should be running by next week..

Yes,Barry rocked up here with the thing,and i couldnt get over it....The only car in the world thats prettier than an Integrale...

I think the car will be ready before i am.Post an after pic of the motor,Barry.
