Idle is for suckers!

An inline 4 doesn't need much of counterweights. Also notice the hollow throws on the crank.

Look at the valve seats. Neat color. 5 points question; what matherial are they?

Jim K.: Out of curiosity, is copper-beryllium actually used for valve seats? My first impession is that it would erode away rapidly if it were used as exhaust valve seats.

Also, someone once told me that copper-beryllium can be used for piston rings but I have never been able to verify this. Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Found my own answer (yes Cu/Be is used as exhaust valve seats mostly for thermal conductivity reasons).
