WANTED: HOSE FITTINGS

Hi all
I'm looking for some hose fittings that are unavailable (as far as I know) in Australia.

They are 1/4" male NPT thread on one end, and barbed on the other to accept a 1/2" inside diametre flexible hose. Can't be plastic because it's for a water intercooler's expansion tank.

If anyone has or knows of where they can get about 4 of them I'd be happy to hear from you.

Here is the exact thing I'm looking for, though Grainger won't ship to me because (a) I'm not a business and (b) I need to buy in bulk.

Any of the Pirtek / Aeroquip / Ryco hydraulics place will have them.
Not sure of the 1/4" NPT x 1/2" barb but you should be able to get something.

OK I'll try, though the problem has been the foreign thread.

Isn't NPT = Normal Pipe Thread? Doesn't sound too foreign?

But I guess everything is foreign down there... 8)

Go to the parts department of your nearest Caterpillar dealer and ask for a 1S-0178, should cost you all of $8

It stands for National Pipe Thread. Be sure to use the correct 'tapered' tap...

1/4-18 NPT = a metric tapered pipe thread the designation of which i don't know, but tapered pipe thread is tapered pipe thread...inch and metric are the same (i think there are actually more metric pipe thread sizes than inch ones). You should be able to match it up...just dont tell the counterman that its an inch size.

For the barb end do you have 13mm ID hose? 1/2 inch is close enough there.
