World Touring Cars.

Post by Fernando »

Mats you going to be watching the race this weekend at Anderstorp ?

I hope old James can pull out a win for the N-Technology Alfa 156. :D They have struggeled this year but I suppose that was to be expected considering the age of the 156 versus BMW,SEAT and Chev.

Anyone know,or heard,if Alfa are planning to homologate a car for Touring cars anytime soon ? I recall the CEO vetoing the current 159 as he didn't see that as fitting in to a sporty image???? He must be flipping nuts.In my mind, since I was a kid,if it has an Alfa badge it must be able to race end of story. Not for nothing is Alfa referred to as the 'poor' man's Ferrari...

Ah well all the best to the team for this weekend.

Yes! Going there tomorrow. :D

Alfa will not win though, I'm sure of it. It's sad but such an old car and run by what's really a privateer outfit will never win.
I hope they can pull something out of the hat and win though, last time I was there for the ETCC they ruled!

I hope they bring rain tyres... :(

So did you at least enjoy the racing Mats ? I see James managed a fighting 3rd in heat one and a 5th place finish in the second heat.

The racing was fantastic! Haven't seen such racing in quite a while actually. :D
Thompson did some excellent driving to manage third place and the whole section of the stands we were on was extatic when he passed the line (being an all Alfa section with red hats, hopefully he noticed us throgh the race)

Second race was also fantstic with Rickard managing to blitz his way to a win, overtaking the other two Chevy drivers on the last lap
Larini wasn't too pleased, but hey, team orders arn't legal in WTCC... Haha! First races in 27 (!!) years that have the world championship status! And one was won by a Swede! Doesn't get much better then that.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the racing. It's always a really good feeling when a local boy wins his home race.Everytime I hear Rickard's name I cannot but help think of his time peddaling those Volvo's in the heyday of the BTCC. :D

Well let's keep our fingers crossed that Alfa will continue to support touring car racing at this level sometime soon.
