Depending on how much grunt you want, with the Lexus..and the LS, there may not be a great need for aftermarket parts. You'd certainly not be spending 8k+ to get 200hp like the Alfa 4's!

Sure the extra weight from the v8 will alter the weight distribution a bit, but the v6 is a bit of a lead tipped arrow to start with and having 350hp will more than make up for the small loss of mid corner speed.

If you were after the best of both worlds, you'd bin the v6 and put a forced induction 4 cylinder in...a supercharged twinspark would be nice for the road and with a turbo if track work was the aim.

Without going into the fight of the ethics of swapping to a foreign engine I can inform that in Europe you can buy a complete Alfa with >200 hp engine for less than €1000,-

An example of a turbo Lexus.
That's a 1UZFE in an early Celica.

It certainly is...the 1UZFE 4.0 as used in the earlier Lexus models. A 200hp n/a Nord or TS costs more to build than 1kE here, it seems, going by quotes I've had.

An Alfa without its own heart is no Alfa!
No argument there so why is the factory installing foreign engines in the new line up?
Brand loyalty will only go so far I am afraid..

I think that some moron in the design department thought well, we already use foreign alternators, starter motors, ignition systems wiper motors, brakes, eh, why not go all the way and use engines as well. No biggie. !! WRONG DICKHEAD.
