I don't know about you guys, but I kind of like it.

Undecided but yes, in the right direction for sure.

But at the end the day it's a rag top. Great for countries that have 2 minutes of sunshine a year(calling Poland Pete). When you live in the land of sunburn, its the last sort of car you want unless you just want to cruise the esplanade after dark tracking down fishnet stockings and 9" high heels..

I was about to say that us Tasmanian's would love it in our climate... then remembered about the great big gaping hole in the ozone layer. Kind of a big thing to miss, I guess. Did you know that you can burn here in 8* celcius? Yup. We're screwed up like that.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't the 2010 spider the 'convertible Brera' looking one? Or are they calling that a Brera Spider?

That spider looks great. And if it has a longitudinally mounted 1750T engine, then it is
A) Probably RWD
B) Tuneable
and given given the way things are moving within FIAT,
C) not likely to enter production

Instead, we will get more of the same as we have had for the last 10 years. FWD cars built on FIAT inherited platforms- it's cheaper, much more compact and easier to package and makes much better business sense.

The majority of people who purchase Alfas these days buy them for aesthetics and those who buy them at the top of the range with the larger engines pay too much for the performance they offer. They are well fitted and good value cars with well above average standard fitment in their cheaper guises, but anyone who considers themselves a performance car enthusiast, especially here in Australia, takes their $$$ elsewhere- Alfas engines provide much less power than similarly sized competitors and the cars weigh more. Factor in that they are all FWD based, and that the AWD ones weigh HEAPS (A 159 3.0Q4 weighs 1700kg- clearly, you need a blower on it before it goes anywhere).

But jeez they look great, don't they?

The resurrection of Alfa as a brand that makes truly great cars will have to be as determined to the resurrection of Ferrari was- a very serious undertaking!

The Multiair engines seem quite a good idea, so it may be the saviour for Alfa engines, but the rest of the cars are only skin deep.

I will be content with my GTV, which Alfa don't even supply spares for anymore- if I buy a newer road car I will probably check out a 147GTA but the Renault Megane and Clio seem much better, and more reliable too.

FIAT better get to work.
